Palm Beach Zoo Palm Beach Zoo News

The zoo announced on Facebook that they have plans to expand the Florida Panther exhibit. Here is the description:
"This project, set to open in Spring 2014, will provide Mira and Micco, our two panthers, with an expanded habitat, new holding yard and renovated night house.
Your gift to our Florida Panther Habitat Expansion Project will help make this new expanded exhibit possible as well as provide additional support for the care of our panthers. Your generosity will also allow us to better support Florida panther conservation projects in the coming year."

Male Malayan tiger Mata is back at the zoo in hopes that Berapi takes a liking to him this time. He arrived Jan 7th and is expected to be on display with Berapi by the weekend. I find this hard to believe if the article is correct. Wheres the usual 30 day quarantine? Tiger intros usually take time and can be dangerous, just look at what happened in San Diego last month. I have a feeling the article has something wrong.

The Malayan Tiger exhibit is being expanded to twice its current size, and will likely be finished by the end of the year.
A male tiger from Lowry Park Zoo has arrived at the zoo and is in quarantine. Once he moves out, his brother (still at Lowry Park) will move to Palm Beach. The two tigers will eventually be reunited, and live with the zoo's resident tigers.
