A very rough calculation reveals that Edinburgh will be into profit if the Pandas can bring in around 80000 extra visitors a year..we can be cynical about China all day long but it seems to me that money will be raised from people who would NOT otherwise be spending on any kind of conservation[ in the main].Animal charities are 7th rated on the UK "giving" scale-and then overwhelmingly for welfare issues,it seems to me that any way of "forcing" people to give to conservation[even if its Scotland not China]is a brilliant notion.
