According to the zoo's Facebook page today, the new cheetahs are three 15 month old brothers.
We are very excited to announce two male California condors have arrived at the Zoo! California condors are one of the largest flying birds and one of the most endangered. The wild California condor population was nearly wiped out due to the destruction of condor habitat, poaching, and lead poisoning. By 1982 only 22 birds remained in the wild. A breeding program was established and thanks to conservation efforts California condors have recovered from the brink of extinction. The Phoenix Zoo is now one of only a handful of facilities where you can view these amazing birds. See them on the Arizona trail during your next visit and stay tuned for more information!
