Photo Competition Winter Zoo

Just like before but you have to have taken the picture yourself this year.

The picture must be taken in a zoo with a winter theme, either snow, icy pond or arctic animals, animals playing with snow etc.Please write a brief discription of the photo.

The picture MUST be in this Thread by JANUARY 3RD 2010

That will be quite tricky; Britain isn't exactly the best guarantee for winter conditions (unless HWP is your local ), and if it does snow like it did in February most zoos will close for the day.

Good idea for a competition. I have a distinct lack of snow pictures in my collection, so a Snow Leopard is acceptable? Thanks for putting the deadline after Christmas too, I think I'm going to have to blag a lift to Marwell to get a perfect one.

On a seperate note, I accidentally deleted all my animal pictures last night (and it bypassed the recycle bin). I had to trawl through a load of computer jargon to retrieve them.

I had back up for mine on an external hard drive but thats died lol have burnt them all to disc tho but takes hours to find any photos I want!!

Believe me, come pay day I am buying loads of discs to back up my pictures. It was an awful feeling, thinking I'd lost them.

I know that feeling i had an 200GB external drive with all mine on which has corrupt and im unable to retrieve, lost pics from the last 3 years

On a plus note means i have to go back and try and get better ones!!! This time i will put them on a hard drive and disc just to make sure

I'm currently putting all my pictures onto disc. So far, I have maxed out four, with pictures from London Zoo, Paradise Wildlife Park, Chessington Zoo and Tropiquaria. I'm on Marwell at the moment.

justlike before, on this thread, then I set up another with a poll so evryone can vote.

My entry is of Katinka the Amur Tiger at Linton Zoo 2007. This was taken late October so could count as winter.
But being a 'Tundra' Animal it counts in this poll anyway.
She was born in April 2006 so she would be about 1 year 8 months in this picture.
I find this to be a very striking picture especially the way her face and her eyes are. Showing this gentle but at this pose a very striking animal.

If I can find a better one over Christmas I will re-enter and change my picture if i can do so.
