Planet Zoo Planet Zoo!

Is there a length or overall megabyte file limit on videos that you want to put on billboards in the game? I took an mp4 video a couple minutes long, imported it into Adobe Premiere, then exported it at 912 x 512 pixels. Then I opened up VLC media player and converted it to WebM format. It put it into the folder with all my other media and it's not showing up on the "tv screen 4m 23" sized billboard that I wanted to put it on in the game. The video is nearly 4 minutes long and is 6 megabytes in size. I'm hoping to put in videos with at least 1.5 minutes of run time.
I have never managed to get a video into PZ that didn’t either not show up, crash the game or just freeze on a random frame. I gave up trying about 2 years ago

Happy tropical pack day! Here’s some stuff I think is noteworthy:
  • Lar Gibbon actually walks upright and not on all fours like the Siamang! They can be kept with the Asian small clawed otter, orangutan, and Siamang.
  • Hoo boy, the Red River Hog has a lot of friends… it can be kept with the Lechwe, Bongo, Okapi, African Buffalo, Mandrill, Chimp, Bonobo, Gorilla, and both Hippo species! African Forest areas just got a huge buff with this thing!
  • Asian Water Monitor honestly isn’t that bad? It honestly looks better than the Nile Monitor (it even has the red lip!), so it’s less of a “Spectacled Caiman” and more of a “Blue Wildebeest” in terms of redundancy.
  • Fossa is good, what else can I say?
  • Sloth is the best animal in the pack. Who cares if it’s “the wrong species”? I think Frontier hit the nail on the head with the sloth! The way it looks, the way it moves, they took an “impossible” animal and made it happen! A worthy addition to any South American zone!

hey guys, i have some good news, i heard in the forum that planet zoo has removed their limit of species, so does that means we can have the quantity of animals we want in our zoos? like using mods and official animals? even if we have a limited species roster?

Yes - the hard cap has been removed and so as many mods as you want can be added.

Update 1.14 is coming 20 June!

Flexicolour staff uniform, spitting behaviour for Bactrian camel and llama, new cinematic camera...

There is a special livestream today too so we should basically figure out the next DLC.

Honestly though, with the reference to warm summers in the patch notes and that new spitting mechanic (for a Dromedary perhaps?) I'm thinking a desert animal pack makes a lot of sense. I've been predicting that for the summer for a little while now.

Addax incoming? I hope so! This opens up the opportunity for some nice Aussie species too.

I’m gonna go for a curb-ball and say it’s a sub-Saharan African pack:

1. Eastern Black Rhino
2. Dromedary (semi-pushing bounds of sub-Saharan ik)
3. Cape Porcupine
4. Serval
5. Mantled Guereza
6. Sulcatta Tortoise
7. Common Eland

swap outs could include gelada, helmeted guineafowl and ratel.

not sure on exhibit as seems to be a snake? Hoping Royal Python tbh. I want a more common snake rather than another venomous one.

which would be our first dlc snake believe it or not!

I mean, a Desert pack would be a nice follow-on from the Tropical pack. Then watch as come Autumn and Winter we get a Temperate pack and a Taiga pack.

Very solid pack although it would have been nice to have the Spurred Tortoise and a bird species.

Most of those species listed were on my wishlist.

Maybe Planet Zoo should plan for a huge animal pack for birds with more than just 8 species, and another animal pack for more reptiles etc.

Yep - all good stuff, barring the usual footnote about the lack of birds. All African but the DLC animals generally haven't been especially Africa-based overall compared to the balance in actual zoos so no harm there (even the previous Africa pack was 'only' a scenery pack). Ungulate-heavy but certainly no complaints from me on that front - keep 'em coming!

The porcupines must have been a nightmare to create but look very good indeed, and if another cat was to be added, the missing niche was for one of the very small ones so that's a perfect choice.

Lots of missed opportunity here in regards to birds, reptiles... Even primates since a baboon would have been perfect. Nevermind it's all African animals.

But disregarding all that, the picks here are all pretty solid. The Dromedary and a porcupine were an absolute must, it's great to see these finally get into the game!

Addax and black rhino were other big wants for me so happy to see them. The rest weren't really on my radar but they are all good additions in their own right. Having a proper desert gazelle and proper small cat is going to help out a bunch especially.

i don't really see the necessity of another gazelle, i'd swap for a baboon, addax for patagonian mara and wild ass for blackbuck.

Fingers crossed that we do get the Blackbuck in another future pack as it has been highly requested for a long time. There are a few other antelope species I would still like to see including Dik-Dik, Duiker, Eland, Kudu, Roan Antelope, Blesbok, Sitatunga etc.
