Planet Zoo Planet Zoo!

Although I heavily question this DLC, you would expect a mountain pack to be more obvious with mountains in the background. With the roster of the baboon, pallas cat, leopard(anniversary) and markhor I think this pack will be an old world pack with the roster of:
Hamadryas Baboon
Pallas Cat
Markhor
Secretary Bird
African Spurred Tortoise
Kirk’s Dik Dik
Coquerel’s Sifaka

I'll add that if there's a zookeeper's collection pack and there would be 14 animals, which it would include:
1. Secretary bird
2. Tree kangaroo
3. Hamadryas baboon
4. Markhor
5. Pallas cat
6. Walrus
7. Coati
8. Black howler monkey
9. Golden lion tamarin
10. White pelican
11. Echidna
12. Musk ok
13. Honey badger
14. Panthers chameleon

my zookeeper's collection pack would have 12 animals and it would have been like this:
1. Secretary Bird
2. Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
3. South American Coati
4. Black Howler Monkey
5. Walrus
6.Musk Ox
7.Great White Pelican
8.Honey Badger
9. Short-Beaked Echidna
10. Greater Rhea
11.King Cobra(E)
12. Rainbow Lorikeet(WE)

Mine would be:
1. Pallas Cat
2. Markhor
3. Hamadryas Baboon
4. Secretary Bird
5. Coquerel’s Sifaka
6. African Spurred Tortoise
7. Kirk’s Dik Dik
8. Short Beaked Echidna
9. Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroo
10. American Black Bear
11. Greater Rhea
12. King Cobra / Pelican

Personally, if the following dlc ends up being a sort of “Zookeeper’s Animal Pack”, this would be my roster:

1. Pallas Cat
2. Markhor
3. Hamadryas Baboon
4. Secretary Bird
5. Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroo
6. Short-Beaked Echidna
7. American Black OR Spectacled / Andean Bear
8. “Sumatran” Animal*
9. Southern Coati
10. Impala
11. “Vulture” - (preferably, Lappet-Faced)
12. King Cobra (EX)

(*whether it would be the Sumatran Orangutan, Tiger, Rhino, or Striped Rabbit; those would be my guesses)

I think the PZ team are making us believe that the next dlc will be mountain focused, but in reality it's a zookeeper's pack. I'm basing this idea on the fact that:
  • The word "secretary" that appeared on the planco dicctionary hinted at the secretary bird which hasn't any relation with mountains.
  • They are taking a long time to make the pack, and the animals that have been shown are "copies" of other animals, so maybe they are taking more dedication with this pack, which would make sense if this is the last pack, and I doubt that they would do a mountain pack as their last pack. (I know that the team working on PZ has shrunken, but even then they are taking a long time).
I can be wrong and maybe it's a "mountain pack" but I have my suspicions.
All add to my reasoning that the concept art doesn't represent an "alpine" habitat at all. Even the north american and eurasian packs have more mountains on their art.

As what I mentioned in the previous thread, the Frontier has experienced financial hardship since last year that led to the layoff of staff, so they didn't have enough resources (budget and labor) to work on PZ1, which is why they spent half a year to provide such ridiculous Pallas Cat's model.
Now I think we may have one more pack next year, which is a scenery pack with 4+1 species, plus the African Leopard and 8 species offered by the coming DLC, we will have 13 species on the way, and make the PZ1 roster to end with 200 species.

Are you sure that there'll be 8 species in the upcoming DLC?

They did say it would be an Animal Pack as opposed to a regular pack.
Even though the pack was called an "animal pack" frontier did say that they want to achieve the 200 mark and some people are expecting to be the last pack. And with the time they have been working on this pack, I wouldn't be surprise if the do 12 animals (+african leopard) to reach 200.
This is based on the idea that this will be the las pack.

Even if this is the last pack, I'm not sure if it's aiming for a "popular requests" theme. I know a lot of people have been asking for the Pallas cat, but I haven't seen much demand for the markhor or the baboon. Of course, I could just be in the wrong places.

That said, if it is a fan favorites kind of theme, I hope it will be a larger pack than normal. I want the game development to go out with a bang!

2024 Essential Habitat Animals Meta-Wishlist:
Based on this wishlist in Frontier's official forum, Markhor and Hamadryas Baboon are in more demand than Pallas Cat, since Markhor ranks #7, Hamadryas Baboon ranks #11 compared to Pallas Cat at #21

The three animals shown on the concept art can use existing models as base, making me believe that they are working on other animals. The supposedly arboreal animals could take a long time to make and a lot of people speculate that budgies could be the WE animal.

I would love to have a greater range of primates in the game. There are currently no tamarins or marmosets as of yet, I would love at least one species. Also a prehensile species like a spider monkey or howler would be awesome. Aye-aye and sifaka would be cool too. However I don’t really understand the demand for Hamadryas baboon? They aren’t the most interesting primate and we already have mandrill.

Baboons are an iconic and common zoo animal, the "baboon rock" is something I've seen many PZ players wish to add to their zoos so it makes sense, I don't really think it's that similar to the mandrill when the habitat style will end up being completely different.

The Hamadryas Baboon wasn't high on my Planet Zoo wish list. I would have really preferred to see primates like the Black Howler, Colombian Spider Monkey, Sulawesi Crested Macaque, Lion-tailed Macaque, Aye-Aye, Cocqurel's Sifaka, Black & White Colobus etc.

I really hope that the knew pack could include the black howler monkey and the golden lion tamarin as they are highly requested animals. They could help boost the monkey and south american rosters.

I hope your list is close to what we will potentially be getting! Secretary birds are one of my favorite species of bird. I think having Walrus and GLTs would be amazing too

I agree with you!!! I hope PZ does a Zookeeper's collection pack, and if they don't, I think it would be a missed opportunity.

The Frontier doesn't want to invest much effort in making Primates since the Primates require many complex animations (climbing, swinging, playing, grooming etc) , we only get 1 primate species from DLCs per year (Black-and-White Ruff Lemur was offered by the anniversary free update). Although Baboon is not in demand as much as Black Howler and Geoffrey's Spider Monkey based on the Essential Meta-wishlist, it is easier to work on. Since Black Holwer and Geoffrey's Spider Monkey, especially the latter, is known for the complex movements on the trees. Even their tails require specific animation due to the prehensile function. Also, Baboon is very common, one of the most common primates in captivity. I also really want to have Aye-Aye and Coquerel's Sifaka in the game, but the Frontier rather offers easy copy-paste hoofed animals and crocodilians.

I don't see why Frontier wouldn't do a new-world monkey. Mostly all animals that have been proposed can use other animals models as base, while as, the arboreal animals (the monkeys) could be worked for a while, seen as they have been working on this pack for a long time.
