Planet Zoo Planet Zoo!

it looks an americas animal pack, what do you guys think?

Most likely.
It was the most requested theme for a DLC after the less realistic 'all birds' and 'fully aquatic'.

So, good choice for the DLC theme, but I feel they could have picked better animals (but let's wait to judge until we know the full roster. If the final two are coati+mara, I won't complain)

Either way, this DLC doesn't feel like the final one. Every is still waiting for the secretary bird and tree kangaroo (and walrus, but I doubt we'll see that one)

yeah, but clones aren't really that bad, it's just too boring

Forget about Tree Kangaroo, it requires a new model, but the Frontier seems not willing to work on any new models. Regarding to the Secretary Bird...its plume requires quite detail work, I doubt the Frontier would like to spend effort on it, since clone species already satisfy most players.

That's just not true. Did you forget about the sifaka? The baboon? The porcupine? The kiwi? The Tasmanian devil? All of these were completely new models with new and unique animations.
Sure, some animals are obvious copies of others (Somali wild ass --> standard donkey was the worst one) but Frontier puts out plenty of high-effort animals.

They used to. After the relatively recent layoffs and even more recent transfer of remaining personnel to focus on Planet Coaster 2, that may no longer be the case.

Yeah the timing on that was a humdinger, that's for sure. It would have been all too easy to throw it in the pack at any point too, just shrink down the wolf rig.

Or instead of Ocelot, a coati, Ringtail, Kinkajou, Sea Otter, arguably even Harbor Seal.

They did it for the sifaka, proving they can certainly do it - so arguably less excuse.

Though if financials are tough, arguably bringing what people want to the table would be the logical move. Of the current suspects hinted in the promo image, the highest ranker on the PZ forum wishlist is rhea in 15th place. None of the others are in the top 20. Next highest is American Flamingo in 37th...
Which Website is it now for the PZ forum wishlist?

The most significant difference is Patagonia Mara, which is ranked #25 in the old list, but gets the highest votes in the new list. Simiarly, the Geoffrey Spider Monkey ranked #28 in the old list but ranked #3 in the new list. Some species are ranked much lower in the new list, like Shoebill (ranked #9 in the old list, but #21 in the new list), Aye-Aye (ranked #31 in the old list, #59 in the new list)

After watching a few zoo vlogs recently, I have come across a few items and other additions listed below that I wish were on Planet Zoo just for that bit more detailing including:

- Telescopes (for guests to see animals across large enclosures)
- Free water filling machine
- Penny press machine
- Yellow freezing salt boxes
- Different animal doors to get in/out that are the more the right size for various species
- Playground equipment
- Bird boxes, tables and baths
- Various animal feeders you can put on walls or hang from the roof
- Bee hives
- Bat boxes
- Gardeners and Entertainers (new staff options)
- Ability to use multiple habitat gates
- Composter (like on Zoo Tycoon)
- New ambient speakers sounds for African Savannah species and Mountain species
- Hotels and lodges blueprints or build your own
- Louder Lion roars that you can hear right from the other end of your zoo
- Various signs (staff only, mind your head, mind the step, do not climb, slippery when wet, danger deep water, cleaning boards etc)

I agree with a lot of these. It's interesting how quite a lot of them are actually included in Zoo Tycoon 2 yet not Planet Zoo. Though for many of them (telescopes/binoculars, playground equipment, drinking fountains) I suspect their absence is due to guest mechanics. Those sort of items aren't conducive to PZ's guest group situation, only inherently being usable by one person at a time.

No Coati, no Patagonian Mara, no Musk Ox, no Walrus, 5 of 7 species are copy & paste (Ocelot looks like copy&paste from Clouded Leopard, but I am fine with Ocelot so I don't complain about it). Frontier seems no longer care about the players' demand.
I can imagine that there are people seething about the fact that the pack bring in more carnivores while the number of new world primates barely gets a boost with this announcement.
Based on Ladysigner's vote about species popularity, Carnivores are the most popular order of Planet Zoo species. The Frontier has done several Feline and Canine models that can be reused many times to create new species, which can save up time and effort. In comparison, Primates have complex facial structures and animations (climbing, swinging, playing, grooming etc), especially the three most-demanded New World Primates: Geoffrey's Spider Monkey requires huge work of moving animation including the tail. Black Howler requires new howling animation, Golden Lion Tamarin requires new model. The Frontier doesn't have enough resources due to the market failure of F1 and Planet Coaster 2.

So, the new pack has been announced - the Americas Animal Pack. The animals are the coyote, white-faced saki, American flamingo, bighorn sheep, greater rhea, bush dog and ocelot.

Planet Zoo | Americas Animal Pack | Announce

Honestly... Meh.
Like, I like these animals, but... Do we really need 2 species of flamingo when we don't have ONE single pelican? And... Have they just given up on exhibit animals altogether? We didn't get any last year! I hope this builds up to a groundbreaking exhibit-heavy DLC (birds, cough cough)... Because if we have TWO years without exhibit animals I'm going to Will Smith someone!

An "Arboreal Pack" would be a good way to squeeze in some of the most requested animals. Coati, Tree Kangaroo, at least one of the many New World Primates that are still highly requested, and a chameleon for the exhibit box would already check off a lot of the top spots on many peoples' lists.

I shall look forward to getting this pack when it will come out on console later this year. I can't believe the console version has nearly caught up to PC with the Barnyard and Zookeepers packs still to get, plus still a few updates that PC already have.

A few remaining South American animals that I really hope and pray for include:-

- Black Howler Monkey
- Southern Pudu
- Southern Tamandua
- South American Coati
- Azara's Agouti
- Patagonian Mara
- Scarlet Ibis
- Roseate Spoonbill
- Emerald Tree Boa
