Are there any plans for more species in the African plains? It seems quite a good sized area, and I would've thought at least one more species would be possible.
0.0.1 Malayan mouse deer again a very important birth a first for RZSS and important to the EEP as the female was imported from Singapore.
I've just seen on one of the USA threads that 0.2 Drills will be coming to Edinburgh from Columbus Zoo, Ohio.
Great news, would be nice to see a few more in the UK.
It will give Edinburgh a better sex ratio(2.3) There's discussion on the American thread about whether Drills have any future in US zoos- there are less there than in Europe and very few are breeding. I think Columbus' male ws handraised and is consequently a nonbreeder so this transfer will be to Edinburgh's advantage.
Good, good. I find Mandrills and Drills so fantstic to watch. .
Fact for the day- Did you know that Port Lympne recorded the first UK birth of a Drill for almost 40 years? There had been none at all in UK since the last one died at Drusillas Zoo in Sussex some time in the 1970's.![]()
