That lion exhibit was too small for a few lions and the enclosure is perhaps only adequate for a single leopard. It will be interesting to see how the zoo renovated the lion exhibit, which looked like this when I visited in 2012:

I am not asking who owns it, I am asking what function and usage of that particular area which looks defunct and squandered public space. Depending on any constructive answer one could make assumptions what to do about that particular public space in the park.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Batu, a five-year-old elephant at Syracuse’s Rosamond Gifford Zoo, died today, Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon announced. His baby brother, Ajay, died Tuesday.

Both young elephants died of elephant endotheliotropic herpes virus, the biggest killer of young Asian elephants.

“Just an absolute devastating day for the community again, and for our parks team and our zoo team,’' McMahon said.

0.1 Patas Monkey that was born last year had to be handraised due to the death of her mother during childbirth. The adult male also recently died in February. The zoo are currently in the process of introducing her back to the all-female group. Rosamond Gifford Zoo will be acquiring a new male Patas Monkey around mid-year: Syracuse zoo pulling out all the stops to keep orphaned patas monkey Iniko here
 
0.0.4 Turkmenian Markhor have been born at Rosamond Gifford Zoo. The two sets of twins were born on 6th and 13th June respectively:

"Cuteness alert! When you pass by our Turkmenian markhor exhibit, look for markhor babies! Two of the four Golden Girls, Dorothy and Rose, each gave birth to twins this month. Pictured is Rose with her two born this past Sunday, June 13. Dorothy had twins the previous Sunday, June 6 and has been keeping them pretty well hidden among the rocky cliffs. Our zoo is in charge of the Species Survival Plan for this threatened species, so we are especially happy to welcome these little ones."

Hi, I'm supposed to be visiting this zoo for the first time in a few weeks and have some questions:
- Does the zoo still have Armenian Mouflon?
- Does the zoo still have White-Winged Vampire Bats?
- Does the zoo still have Guanaco?
- Does anyone have any tips for my visit? I should be at the zoo for about two hours.

The zoo has Turkmenian Markor not Mouflon, they no longer have the bats (at least not on exhibit) and they do have Guanaco but they may be hard to see. They tend to live behind the Bactrian Camels. We saw them last time but they were very far away. Overall 2 hours is plenty of time to see everything, the only thing still closed is the USS Antiquities area. Make sure to see the new Leopard exhibit and they have a Kiwi exhibit, but he is hard to see. Other top exhibits are of course the Elephant Preserve and Penguin Coast.
