There is a pre trial hearing on the 13 May 2016. As with the council meetings which he tried to have the public and press removed and heard in a closed house, he tried the same in court.

Can anyone enlarge the court paper? I either get it too small or far too big, with no in between, and no way of scrolling to read it.
no, because they are just photos taken of a computer screen. If there was a link then you could visit the page itself...

South Lakes zoo licence holder storms out of council meeting

24 February 2016 10:16AM The licence holder for a south Cumbria attraction stormed out of a crucial meeting into the venue's future.

The drama happened during a meeting of Barrow Borough Council's licensing regulatory committee yesterday.

Councillors were discussing the findings of an inspection report, which highlighted safety issues at South Lakes Safari Zoo and recommended the attraction's licence should not be renewed when it expires on June 6.

David Gill, the zoo's current licence holder, sharply criticised the report during an extended slot in which he was allowed to air his views.

But when the chairman, Councillor Tony Callister, said his time was up, Mr Gill stormed out.

Before leaving, he said: "This is a critical issue and you have made a report that is absolutely damning.

"We have the right to have these facts out there. It is not fair for you to put your information out there and we can't."

Mr Gill had been addressing councillors about the future of the zoo and the new structure that they are planning to put in place.

Councillors also decided that all the public wooden walkways at the Dalton zoo should be closed with immediate effect until a direction order on them has been complied with.

The new management proposals for the zoo, it was heard, would involve it running under a system involving trustees and management, which it was said Mr Gill would not be part of.

Karen Brewer, the zoo's marketing and development manager, who would become the zoo's chief executive under the new system, said: "There will be a team of eight for the senior management committee.

"David will not feature at all in that team or in the team of trustees."

Regarding the zoo's licence, members of the committee accepted the recommendation of principal environmental health officer, Richard Garnett, that the decision on the renewal application be deferred until an agreed date.

The meeting was set to continue today at Barrow Town Hall.

And yet, via the zoos vacancy list and adverts the following is stated
Due to new ownership and a new start for the future. The Trustees of Safari Zoo Nature Foundation
https://www.facebook.com/notes/safari-zoo/safari-zoo-vacancies/1049829805073242 As mentioned previously, Dave Gill is still the licence holder and owner, he still has input regardless of what he says. The vacancy for the new animal management job states that the zoo is under new ownership. This is a big lie and one that has been reported for breaching various codes and laws. The man as we know and as many have said; a baby who throws a tantrum with his baby rattle. I did mention elsewhere about the zoo getting the licence extended to June. That being is to see if Gill and management can meet the report listing and make good, if not, then the council have acted fair by allowing more than adequate time and virtue and giving the fool enough rope to hang himself. Despite the report and zoo inspection findings, the zoo continues to hand-feed wrong diets and allow hand-feeding by the public which was mentioned and must stop. Likewise with mixing various species, wrongful siting of enclosures and buildings which do not have planning permission, to sending staff to collections for training on species, etc. Unless these and much more are made and completed and changes are made for the better, then the zoo will have no future and will close.

David Gill has pleaded not guilty at Manchester court with regards to himself but he has pleaded guilty to points 4 and 5 on behalf of the zoo, in relation to health and safety. This can be confirmed by contacting both Manchester and Preston courts. David Gill will be back in court on 13 May for a pre trial hearing. You can call the Manchester and Preston courts to confirm this as that is where the information is from.

Technically it is under new ownership as its moved to the Safari Zoo Nature Foundation.
No, factually incorrect and misleading.

Isn't it the case that the current license doesn't actually expire until June, rather than an extension having been granted?
Indeed, the zoo licence expires in June. The council mentions that during the meetings held, the conditions placed on the zoo had expired or about to expire, and extensions were given.

Latest update:

A SOUTH LAKES zoo has had the renewal of its licence deferred so it can act on conditions made before it is re-inspected.

Barrow Borough Council's Licensing Regulatory Committee today imposed a series of additional conditions on South Lakes Safari Zoo's present licence. The Dalton attraction will be re-inspected in May to judge how it is complying with the conditions, such as reviewing animal bites.

The committee will reconvene at Barrow Town Hall on July 5 and 6 to take a decision on renewing the zoo's licence.

South Lakes Safari Zoo Ltd's representatives had told the committee today that it is "absolutely vital" that the licence is renewed to ensure "confidence, continuity and no financial losses".

The attraction's licence had been due to expire in June and inspectors, who visited the zoo in November, had recommended that renewal was refused unless additional conditions were complied with and that greater emphasis was placed on condition 32, "that robust management and staffing structure must be in place to the satisfaction of the licensing authority".

The committee decided to defer a decision until inspectors had returned to the zoo.

The additional conditions include addressing perimeter fencing, upgrading inadequate baboon accommodation, reviewing public feeding and addressing flooring in the flamingo house.

The zoo is operated by South Lakes Safari Zoo Ltd with the licence held by David Gill.

Karen Brewer, of South Lakes Safari Zoo, told the committee that the zoo is to be operated by a new charity company, Safari Zoo Nature Foundation Ltd, and that the charity would hold the licence.

Mrs Brewer said the board has appointed her as chief executive officer, there is also a new senior zoo manager and deputy to replace the 22 years of experience of Mr Gill who is retiring.

Very presumptuous of Karen Brewer to say so especially when the licence has not been given and is still up in the air. None of the staff on the management are seen as fit to hold the licence (given that the said management currently have a connection to David Gill). Just who is on this board and have they any connection to David Gill? Will David Gill have any financial input or have any say or play in the zoo if he is to "retire"?

“The new management proposals for the zoo, it was heard, would involve it running under a system involving trustees and management, which it was said Mr Gill would not be part of.”

Please remember that Karen Brewer who is management and keeper is a “Trustee of the Sumatran Tiger Trust” along with Ian Collings and David Gill. This trust is part of the “The Wildlife Protection Foundation” Therefore, there is a clear conflict of interest when it comes to who is to be allowed to have the zoo licence.

There is a press restriction order in place but you can call Preston and Manchester courts clerks who will confirm what I have mentioned.

There is an easy way to make that happen.

Do as they are told.

Indeed, Gill should have done what he was told from the start, he`s got no-one to blame but himself.
