A Guereza colobus monkey was born March 21:

Welcome, Ficus! St. Louis Zoo welcomes first monkey born since opening of outdoor primate habitat

Ficus is the first monkey born at the zoo since Primate Canopy Trails, a 35,000 square foot outdoor expansion connected to the primate house, opened in summer 2021.

He was born on March 21 and can be seen there with his family group, which include his siblings with tree-themed names Juniper, Willow, Hawthorn and Teak.

His mom is Cecilia and his dad is Kima.

Does anybody who has been to the zoo recently know if Zeya the newer tiger is out on exhibit yet.
I haven't heard of Zeya but I saw a tiger last time I went. She hadn't been announced publicly yet at that point but shortly after the St. Louis Zoo Instagram account introduced a new tigress named "Reka".

For North American ZooChat challenge purposes, does anyone know if Saint Louis is the only holder in the US of any rare insects?

I'd say probably not. There's a lot of insect zoos around, both stand-alone and inside other zoos, that usually have dozens of species since they don't need much space.

The Saint Louis Zoo has sent one of its western lowland gorillas, a 22 year old male named Nadaya, to the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. This is based on a breeding recommendation by AZA.

On June 13th the zoo put the Caribbean flamingos back on exhibit in the North Lake. Every year they are brought into their off-exhibit indoor home for the colder months, but were kept in said indoor home for an extended period of time due to bird flu concerns. Along with this, the zoo publicly announced the reopening of its other avian exhibits, including the Bird House and Cypress Swamp. They have also placed many other birds, such as swans, geese, and Humboldt penguins back on exhibit.

Does anyone know if the zoo still has great hornbills?

Their website claims they have them, but on all my recent visits I have only seen rhinoceros hornbills.
