Four Virgin Islands tree boas hatched sometime last year.
I emailed the Zoo yesterday with this exact question. I've been told I could hear back as early as tomorrow. I also asked if the Puma is gone, as I have not seen it on exhibit since last year and the Serval is in its former habitat.Does anybody who has been to the zoo recently know if Zeya the newer tiger is out on exhibit yet.
Does the zoo plan on acquiring more cougars? Or would that come with a full renovation of Big Cat Country? The Pumas are officially gone at Saint Louis. Our last one was humanely euthanized due to age complications in December. Confirmed by our carnivore curator.

How many giraffes does St. Louis Zoo have? I also want to know what happened to their old breeding male Dexter?
I know that Dexter was alive as of December 31st 2011, but that's it.They have three females, Sukari (18), Ella (11) and Lily (10).
Not sure what exactly happened to Dexter but his last offspring was born in 2010.

Dexter passed away on November 6th, 2012 at the age of 23.There's no information online about him being at other zoos, so it appears he may have passed.
If a giraffe in North America is not Masai, it is a Retic x Roth/Nubian hybrid of some degree. There is only, potentially, a very small handful of purebred animals of either of those species left, and they are being managed as a single generic population. All of St. Louis’s giraffe are this generic hybrid mix.One of the giraffes looks to be a different subspecies. I imagine it’s Zoomix something or other, but it looks more like a Southern Giraffe than a reticulated by its pattern
Just reported on the Twitter page for the Zoo:I do not think it has been reported anywhere, but there is a young Soemmerring's gazelle calf on exhibit with the herd in Red Rocks.
