Considering both what it replaced and the relatively small budget, I think the Morgan Center is nothing to sneeze at. The hospital was a major hassle, as city building projects tend to be (from the perspective of one who has spent a lot of time dealing with city zoos). I actually have been to both the gift shop and snack bar there on a few occasions - Salisbury has a challenge not uncommon among city zoos in which it is has several support organizations - educations and visitor services are run by a separate support org, due to the city not financing those functions (similar to how National had FONZ).
I have a soft spot for plucky little zoos, Salisbury among them. I’ve seen several master plans of it throughout the years, most of which never really took off due to lack of support from the city (and, to be fair, some were probably over ambitious for what the town could support). Still, with a little more support and resources, I’ve always felt that place could really shine.
