San Diego Zoo San Diego Zoo News 2014

Well this article is not just a minor correction, it is completely different. The original article I saw was MUCH shorter. It even had only one photo (a different photo) whereas this has several. But I swear it was from the same hotlink, so I don't know how the switch was made.

online papers often change the wording or update their articles but the link remains the same. They probably read this thread :D

Two African Penquins are now in the old otter exhibit in the Children's Zoo. They will be on display by the end of the week.

Not sure if it has been noted but the bus aviary has now been changed over to a neotropical exhibit containing white-necked jacobin, spangled cotinga, pompadour cotinga, paradise tanager, swallow tanager, speckled tanager, purple honeycreeper, green honeycreeper and Andean C*ck of the rock. The kagu are still present in this exhibit.

There is also purple-breasted cotinga (Cotinga cotinga) and a pair of pompadour coatings in the hummingbird aviary.

The guianan c*ck of the rock have been on show since september in the old Andean c*ck of the rock aviaries down from the hummingbird exhibit.

All exciting developments for an already incredible bird collection!

Re.threeple61..is the editing of certain bird names(Rupicola sp.) intentional? Or am I missing something? NOT political correctness surely?

I have a feeling the software is doing it automatically. I will test it by typing the full name here (with the letter o) and if you see the asterisk then we know it is the software.
Andean cock of the rock

The software does sometimes censor species names - I could swear I once had cock-of-the-rock censored......

it used to censor "cock", but it would then appear as **** not c**k. This was corrected because it is of course a valid term for an animal forum. There are many other words of an actual inappropriate nature which are still censored if posted.

A gorilla was born to Jessica and Paul Donn yesterday morning. It is Jessica's 6th baby. The keeper discovered the baby when she arrived at 6:00 a.m. The whole troop was on exhibit 7 hours later. No official word on the gender, but from what I saw, it is a boy. This is Jessica and Paul Donn first born. Jessica has had 5 boys with Memba.

I remember back when I was in maybe 3rd or 4th grade, my school library had a guide to birds of the world, me and my friend always used to giggle at the Andean Cock of the Rock and Watercock, I know, We were so immature :D
