Good question. And as of this morning, it STILL isn't public. I searched everywhere I know to search and nothing is "out there" about it. I don't think they're trying to hide anything or cover it up, but it's still odd that nothing has been said about it. No newspaper articles, nothing on their blog, nothing on FB. Nothing.
 
Maybe this has something to do with the current political climate, they think that it will be out of sight out of mind and won't result in any more ammo for anyone that would want to hurt their reputation?
 
That makes sense. Of course, they aren't exactly out of sight with their centennial celebration going on, but the part about not giving ammo makes sense.
 
Koshka, the Amur leopard, has moved back to the Exotic Feline Breeding Compound, which is where he was born. It was announced on the EFBC's Facebook page.
 
The giraffe is a boy. It stood six feet tall at birth, weighing 146 pounds.
 
Also, the kopje exhibit has reopened (so you can see the baby klipspringer now).

In addition, Colombian brown spider monkeys Joe and Lucy have gone on exhibit in Monkey Trails, in the former gibbon exhibit.

There is a new Amur leopard. His name is Oskar, I haven't seen him yet.

I haven't been on here in awhile so I didn't realize so many of you were wondering about Sumithi. Sumithi was euthanized because of health issues related to her age. I don't think the zoo is hiding anything. They don't always publically announce when they euthanized an older animal. It was posted on the "Focusing on the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park" facebook page. This is a photography group not affiliated with the zoo. It was also posted on the "Elephant Managers Association" facebook page.
