I just saw the photos you posted and you’re so right, the one with the obvious plexiglass so isn’t photographer friendly at all I’m visiting next week both parks next week, I’ve never seen the old panda habitat ever in person but maybe I’ll get to see it now

Really? :/ Is it the viewing area of the waterfall in Gorilla Tropics exhibit that is plexiglass I imagine? Because they other viewing area is all glass if recall correctly That’s horrible but I rather these beautiful animals be safe if that’s what it takes I still miss them all from the smallest lizard to the largest pachyderm, they are all wonderful to see and admire as well wish them all be healthy

Yes, they have the statue area roped off and plexiglass by the waterfall.

Is all of this plexiglass to protect the animals from COVID? I know cats can get it and I know gorillas are closely related to humans.

Damn :/ I’m planning to go for my birthday next month and I hope to see the exhibit open, I have yet to really photograph gorilla tropics

The zoo just released a new app with guides for both parks on them. They are modified from google earth it appears so it shows proper exhibit and path length (It isn't a copy of the normal maps online or at the zoo). My favorite part is that is shows what animals are on display on different parts of the Asian and African savanna. It shows Somali wild ass, Arabian oryx, and a Bighorn sheep exhibit next to the African savanna (which I have never noticed)

What?! so this Tuesday was the last time I got to see Mystique, she was majestic and adorable to see play like a kitten...

I am sorry but it is true, they left on Friday. When I saw your photo I thought maybe you knew she was leaving. Ramil is really going to miss Penny.

That sucks but it was a pleasure to see her one last time and she was acting like kitten with the branches in her home, Penny was always his partner and they would always be napping together both big kitties will be missed.

So wait are there any other leopard species in the Panda Trek exhibit? I don't remember if the melanistic leopard was there or in Africa rocks. I also believe there was a normal amur leopard in the Panda Trek exhibit but I seriously can't remember.

There are Amur Leopards at both Asian Leopards exhibit which is next to Panda Trek as well as Africa Rocks, Mystique was rotated around both exhibits. And there are also snow leopards at Asian Leopards exhibit too.

I believe we have 6 amur leopards right now. Penny and Ramil never produced offspring and we have a new female named Nephisa. I heard Tanganyika Wildlife wanted them back.

I believe we have 2 now, Ramil and Naphisa. The hope is they will breed.
