When did the San Diego Zoo have Socorro Doves?
From what I have heard, they are still waiting on a very specific and expensive part for the filtration system for the hippo pool that is holding up the completion of the project.Any updates on the hippo/okapi renovation?
Do they have them off or on exhibit?Up until a few months ago
Do they have them off or on exhibit?
Where at?They at least were on exhibit - seen and photographed by a couple members.
Not exactly “Arctic”, are they‽
Seems to be the case, the zoo's social media has commented on a post about it seeming to hint that the pandas may return sooner than we all think.China's President Xi said the following yesterday ...
“I…learned that the San Diego Zoo and the Californians very much look forward to welcoming pandas back,” Xi told American business leaders during a speech in San Francisco on Wednesday.
“We are ready to continue our cooperation with the United States on panda conservation, and do our best to meet the wishes of the Californians so as to deepen the friendly ties between our two peoples.”
Wouldn't it be wonderful to see the pandas return to SDZ!!! They were always a major highlight of all my visits to SDZ ... the keepers must be so thrilled to hear this news! Fingers crossed this comes through!
The zoo has acquired four Western Santa Cruz Giant Tortoises. All four are 8 years old.

Hopefully it will be down early next year I definitely want to see hippos and okapis on exhibit in the habitats that were made for when I visit San Diego early next year. From what I have heard, they are still waiting on a very specific and expensive part for the filtration system for the hippo pool that is holding up the completion of the project.
