SeaWorld Orlando SeaWorld Orlando News

I shall look into that when I make said trip. I plan to try and go during the slow season, whenever that is. Plus I understand that Discovery Cove has one of the Common/Bottlenose Hybrids. An F2 hybrid to be exact. I think his name is Cooper, I wonder if he is one of the encounter dolphins. I probably want to go to all three of the Orlando parks. I also hope to fit in a side trip to the Space Center. See Atlantis and the Vehicle Assembly Building. I feel so bourgeois saying this, but I think such a trip would be a good experience.

I didn't know they has hybrid. My family did they encounter but we didn't get an animal named Cooper. I believe the training told us they have 12 animals at the site, some having been born there. A trip like that would be good experience. Traveling is great fun:)

Unfortunately I was unable to take advantage of the benefits of a Discovery Cove ticket due to family matters so I didn't visit any of the other parks. I do one day hope to revisit and see the Commerson's Dolphins as they do look like an intriguing species.

Beluga Naluark has moved from Mystic to SWO to be paired with Whisper.

Aww, I'll miss having him in CT. I sure hope that Juno doesn't get sent somewhere else too (though I know Kela needs company and I don't see Mystic ending its Beluga program anytime soon.) I hope Mystic gets a new Beluga as well to keep theirs company. Maybe another female.

For those that care, SeaWorld unveiled the cars for their new coaster, Mako, today. Maybe there will be at least one other roller coaster person like me who cares. ^.^

And its another lawsuit. Filed by someone from San Fransisco, no less.

Judge declines to dismiss SeaWorld false ad case - Orlando Sentinel

I'm convinced that a lot of people who file lawsuits like this know durn well what goes on a places like SeaWorld but buy tickets anyway just so that they have something to make a fuss over.

SeaWorld is conservation driven and focused on animal welfare though? At least as much as any other zoo. If their gripe is that it's a zoo or that they had shows, then I simply have no clue how on Earth they realized neither of these things. If they weren't from California, they'd have a pass, but in San Francisco especially, activist issues like this gain crazy attention.

I've heard a total of 6! dolphins have been born in the last month, which is quite the baby boom. Can anyone confirm or deny this!? I don't mean to doubt it but this seems like such a large amount. The supposed calves are

Kona, a girl, born Aug 3 to mom Roxy,
Titan, a boy, born Aug 6 to mom Calypso,
Nero, a boy, born Aug 7 to mom Nueces,
Star, a girl, born Aug 14 to mom Stella,
And now Storm, sex not determined yet, born Sept 2 to mom Hailey.

I read on the Facebook page that yes, there are dolphins that were born at Discovery Cove. Though, as you may or may not have noticed, there are only five. You've got all the names and dates correct. https://seaworldcares.com/en/2016/09/Meet-the-new-members-of-our-dolphin-family/

Yikes. Clearly counting is not an art I've mastered :p Makes sense they were born at Discovery Cove. Any idea how unusual 5 births in a month would be considered? I get the feeling it's a rarity,if not a complete first-time occurrence. Hopefully with SeaWorld San Antonio's Discovery Cove-style attraction we'll see similar baby booms. While things are obviously quite bleak with orcas, and iffy with belugas (in America anyways ),I do expect some kind of a future for bottlenose dolphins. How many bottlenose dolphins now live at Discovery Cove, including these births?

A crapton, lol.

Discovery Cove is the Marineland Canada of Bottlenoses, they have 51 dolphins with the addition of these 5 new babies. There is only one other american facility with more, and that is the US Navy.

If ceta-base is to be believed (their info is good as far as I know), 51. If I'm reading correctly, all but five are pure Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. One of the five hybrids is between bottlenose and common. Another is between the previously mentioned bottle x common and another bottlenose. The other three are labeled as Tursiops spp so either the species is unknown or I'm thinking they are AtlanticxPacific hybrids. Here's the link:
