Seneca Park Zoo Seneca Park Zoo News

I am off next week and planning on driving to Seneca Park to check out the Eco center Renovations. If I can dig out that is I live in Buffalo and can currently not see my neighbor's house.

Really hoping that the new Eco center will focus more on species that live in or around the genesee river. I know that is what the genesee trail is for but could be an amazing idea for an expansion of the genesee trail!

On my last visit I noticed that one of the old cages across from the red pandas had been removed. (The one on the right of the current red-tailed hawk cage.)

fossa and sifakas are going to be included in the tropics complex. Komodo dragons might not be a part of the plan (limited space) and might be replaced by Asian water monitors instead.

Rumor has it that fossa and sifakas are going to be included in the tropics complex. Komodo dragons might not be a part of the plan (limited space) and might be replaced by Asian water monitors instead.

We try not to post rumors / speculation here, especially in the news threads, as it can confuse readers and potentially upset the zoos' staff.

“Unfortunately, this tumor will grow to a point that it causes severe pain in her jaw and prevents her from being able to eat. If we are seeing signs that Kipenzi is in pain and medications are not helping her, then we will have to make the difficult decision for euthanasia to prevent her from suffering.”
