Singapore Night Safari Singapore Night Safari News

The barn owl and flying squirrel are new in the sense that they've been off display for years. For pangolin trail and Rainforest Wild Asia, think of their worth through the viewing experience. They have similar creatures to the other parks but a very different way of seeing them; Pangolin Trail provides better views of arboreal animals and the pangolins and Rainforest Wild Asia has a very adventurous feel and experience for lack of a better term, which is very different from how you'd see them in the other parks

So even if technically Rainforest Wild may seem redundant as all Mandai parks focus on rainforest animals especially from Asia, the selling point of Rainforest Wild is the experience. Same goes with the pangolin trail

I have no doubts that both the Rainforest Parks will provide us with the experience of a lifetime, I am specially excited for Canopy Swing, The Majesty of Trees and Lemur Land (it looks OUTSTANDING) and I also understand what you meant to say but don't you think it's a bit of an overkill to have so many exhibits of the same species everywhere? In India we fill surplus enclosures with barking deer, in malaysia they fill them with malayan tapirs and in Thailand they fill them with douc langurs. Mandai has a plethora of animals off-show and it would be so nice to have them back on display. Also, have the bat-eared foxes been phased out or are they off-display?

The walkthrough already have quite a number of the civets. As I said before, its mainly about space. Adding the juveniles may result in lesser space per individual as well as potential inbreeding. The civets are easy to spot in the walkthrough.

Sheesh I completely forgot about the issue of inbreeding :p

At the end of the day, for night safari's collection, unless there are plans to trade/export/import, the collection will remain as it is. Having more than 2 exhibits for a species is slightly annoying i admit, but the currently I dont hear of plans to export or move around the surplus of the repeated species and thus, they will stay in the park and live their lives until things change

Yesterday while scrolling through my father's gallery I found an old video he recorded in the night safari in 2015 in the swamp-deer drive-thru. He forgot to switch off his flashlights of the phone and the guide had to intervene. I feel so embarrassed BAHAHA:oops:

Bat-eared foxes haven't been around for years. As far as I'm aware, most of Mandai’s other small mammals are part of the animal presentations department like fennec foxes, their albino raccoon and the raccoon dogs but anyone can correct me if I'm wrong as I don't know the ends of what they house at the back of house. They also have a southern tamandua but she does not fit the pangolin trail's Asian theme

What I will say though is too bad most European zoos don't seem that interested in civets since Mandai is a part of the EEP…

Have the pangolins been released into their exhibit at the pangolin trail or would that happen at a later date.

At least VERY LEAST there is one with the Common Palm Civets. They already should be in their enclosures as of this time however.

The crowds and lighting yesterday made it pretty darn hard to double check, I'd recommend you come down and see for yourself too. The Pangolins will be around for ya to enjoy

I visited Pangolin Trail today and walked through it twice, at opening and at about 8.30pm.

At opening i saw the 2 Pangolins at the Sumatran Palm Civet and Small-toothed Palm Civet/Leopard Cat exhibits, both were active. At 8.30pm, i only saw the latter one, which was asleep in the nest hole. The Pangolin at the Mousedeer/Slow Loris/Giant Flying Squirrel exhibit did not seem to be on display.

I only saw the Leopard Cat at opening, and the Slow Loris at 8.30pm when the keeper put out enrichment. The other species were seen on both occasions.

The Binturong and Otter exhibit remains closed.

The Night Safari website announced that the tram Otter exhibit will be closed from tomorrow and reopen on Friday with Eastern White Pelicans.

I wonder where the Zoo's Dalmatian Pelicans have gone after the Sealion exhibit closed.
