So How About the Weather....

Can't upload multiple pics for some reason? That rooftop is in the North End (Little Italy). Snow removal to prevent collapses due to heavy snow. The photo looks towards Downtown.

This pic is from Post Office Square during the first storm in the morning.

Last pic is coming back from our Cambridge rental properties. The pic is while the vehicle is moving overlooking the Charles River towards Boston.

I have been too busy shoveling to take any pics, except for some the birds that have shown up at my home. I have what I think is some kind of sparrow that I am trying to get a good photo of for ID purposes (I have a friend I plan to ambush and have id it for me) and I have begun to recognize individual Juncos coming to the feeder I have near my window. There is a male that is a regular, he is the one most tolerant of me, followed by a couple of other males and a female or two.

Nice pics and reports guys. Cheers!

We are currently having thunderstorms - exactly what the vegetation needs during summer.

Yes, still tons and tons of the 72 plus inches we have received so far between the blizzard and storms back to back. They are collecting the snow in empty space and melting it because the city is so congested and has narrow streets, that there is nowhere to put it. It has affected parking for people that live in the city with huge mounds on corners. Sidewalks are still not the greatest and people are walking in the even narrower streets due to snow. The Train service is having issues with breakdowns and is affecting people getting around. Which hampers thousands as many work in the city. Fun stuff.

You know what's bugging me? I live in a town full of idiots who have no common sense as to how to behave in this weather. No one is shoveling their sidewalks, meaning there are fewer sidewalks than normal. Meaning that people have to walk in the road. Then, to make matters worse the people who have to walk in the street have no common sense. They walk in the middle of the lane (dumb) and walk abreast instead of single file. Occasionally there is an unleashed dog and/or child zig zagging all over the place. Its like they want to get run over. Maybe they do. Plus they often dress so it is very hard to see them, maybe you don't see them until it is too late. I am literally the only person I know who wears an orange vest to make herslf more visible. This means that in addition to being hampered by snow and ice on the road you have to be doubly conscious of idiots who have no concept of looking out for their own personal safety and have no interest in making it easier for you to avoid them. Sorry for the rant.

Looks like Boston is going to get hit by the equivalent of a Cat 2 Hurricane with another 12" of snow forecast to fall this weekend.

Wow. America seems to be having a prolonged cold snap. I see that record low temperatures are being recorded in many places. There are some spectacular shots of Niagara Falls being partially frozen. How is it where you guys are? It's going to be 36C in Melbourne today...

It was minus 13 last night. I know. It is warmer today, and it will be tomorrow as well, but we are having an ice storm tomorrow and then it will get very cold again.

Which means that things will get icy and compacted and thus will take even longer to melt if and when it actually happens. Also, ice storms are a prime season for lining orthopedists pockets. Can you guess why?

I wonder if the Elephants are allowed out for brief periods during the warmest part of the day, they seem like the type of set that would enjoy having a snowball fight.

In Ohio it is freezing- 10 degrees or maybe 20. In warmer climates such as Florida, Arizona or California, people visit more zoos in a WEEK than I visit in a WHOLE YEAR.

It's about 33C today with isolated severe thunderstorms forming spontaneously and unpredictably. No rain where I am though.

Where in the US has it the worst this weekend? Boston?

I live in Yorkshire so surprisingly it isn't raining! Actually quite sunny but still cold.

Looks like a late season winter storm is hitting the NE USA. What's the weather where you are? And how is Boston these days? Is there any snow on the ground?
