It also mentions giant anteaters on their Facebook as well as artic wolves!

When I visited some years ago I saw, in one of the paddocks, a dead Ring-tailed lemur being eaten by a Cheetah.
Last time I visited I saw a moorhen in with yellow mongoose, it didn't end well... Wouldn't be surprised if it was a mixed species exhibit!

The paca sharing with giant otter is just plain irresponsible! Are south lakes a member of BIAZA?

The entire group of Mandrill have left today for a zoo "far into Europe"

Quote:
Well today was the last day for Mandrill's at this zoo. We have had them many years but they do not form a part of our master plan for the future of the zoo. So the whole group was transported to a new home far into Europe. the Hippos are moving soon... but to our new site and then we are bringing into that area a very exciting new addition to the zoo... but I am going to leave you wondering about that

...Am I the only one that translated that quote as "the big zoo in the sky" ?

hybrid white tiger ..;)

Any chance of knowing where the mandrills have been transferred to?

It seems an odd species for them to go out of- whatever their destination. Mandrills always make a good exhibit IMO, better than a lot of other primates.

Labour intensive, and not a good mix, which seems to be a South Lakes obsession. But I wouldn't send a group of Mandrills away, either...

Free Entry back on

Saw an add today on facebook - FREE ENTRY is back on until Feb half term. If your thinking of heading north it's a good time to go ;)

Im just wondering how long its going to be before he tries to get himself a Liger:rolleyes:

You never know how true that could be, a Liger would pull in far more revenue than lion or tiger cubs would....

Careful what you say, we already know he sometimes reads this site - don't want to give him ideas.....

Not only that, guests will be able to walk freely in the Liger's exhibit, as part of the "South Lakes Experience" that is key to the world's best (and quite possibly only) Safari Zoo.
