Does anyone know a species list for Heythrop or is there one available online?

From the photos, I can gather that they keep:
- Polar Bear
- American (?) Black Bear
- Pygmy Hippo
- African Leopard
- African Crowned crane
- Addax
- Giraffe
- Ostrich
- Zebra
- Raccoon
- Meerkat
- Red Fox
- Ring-tail lemur
- humboldt's penguin
- Skunk

Is there anymore?

Mandrills- 2.1 originally plus several more obtained from Southport when it closed. I'd be interested to know exactly how many they have now + sex ratio etc if anyone is doing the visit- plus a photo or two of the enclosure(s)? :)

I think the black bear is Asian.
There are no Ostritches, there are still striped Hyena, and I think there are 2.4 Mandrills.
Who is going to the open day?

They keep squirrell monkeys and asian black bears (from the dudley pair).....I think

Don't they have a liger? I'm sure I've seen a program where some animals were taken here from another zoo and while the keepers were there they looked at the ligers, this may be another place like this though. Anyone know what I'm thinking of?

As you come in you can see many Bactrian and dromedary camels in large fields. As you walk along a long pavement you come across a gate. When you open it you will be greeted by Oswald the emu and many other creatures such as tortoise, monkey, lemur, flamingo, pelican, wallaby and kangaroo. Also there is a large penguin pool with 4 Humboldt penguins.
After seeing these animals there is a great glass viewing of both the lion and the tiger exhibits. Many lions were sleeping inside but we were lucky to see Barbary and hybrid lions. The lions were kept in a good sized enclosure with enrichment and natural plants. Next you will come across 3 tiger (one white) in a large natural exhibit. You can get really close to these beautiful creatures. Next you see a large indoor reptile house with a large collection of animals. You will come across snake, alligator, lizards, crocodile and chameleon. Then there is two amazing enclosures holding racoons and Meerkats

Behind you will find more monkeys. As you carry on you will see England’s last polar bear Zara sharing an enclosure with Dennis the Himalayan Black Bear. The enclosure is spacious and has a large waterfall and a bridge with a glass wall to see the bears. Just after the bear exhibit you will find two large enclosures with black leopard and African leopard. Also after midday they let 8 lion cubs enjoy the exhibit while the leopard stays inside. The enclosures have an amazing rocky border line and a large grassy field with trees and plants.
As you carry on you will come across the indoor viewing of the male pygmy hippo. As you leave you will see the female hippo enjoying her large outdoor exhibit. Behind you there are two striped hyenas in a large rocky exhibit. Next to that you will come across 4 wolves in a natural small exhibit. As you turn the corner you will come across a large African section with addax, giraffe and zebra. Also there is an indoor viewing where you can feed the giraffe.

@ zootiger it wasn't a Grizzly Bear it was a young European Brown Bear, and this animal has now been moved on so Heythrop only have the 2 Bears at the moment. Also they don't have Baboons and they have not had any on any of my visits over the last 15 years or so!!!

Sorry, I got mixed up with my monkeys! I recently spoke to the keepers at Heythrop and they never mentioned anything about ligers on site.
If you re-read my post its says that 2 ligers went to Japan leaving 1 which has also moved on now!

Have all the animals there gone through some form of training in order to be used in film/tv work or are some just there as exhibits e.g. the polar bear?
