Species you hate to see in zoos

If you really backed me into a corner, I might say ratites. I never linger at these exhibits, but I still don't hate them. Also, I do really like seeing cassowaries, and I do hope to see kiwi one day (I only just found out the kiwis are ratites by the way).
I think Walsrode have a kiwi don't they?

I always imagine if peafowl were only held in a few collections; they'd be prized beyond measure by zoonerds. They truly are extraordinarily beautiful birds.

In terms of species I don't like seeing, I've given this a lot of thought. Despite their overexposure, I still enjoy see most ABCs. However, the one exhibit that really leaves me cold is the cookie cutter South American 'pampas' one. A mixed species effort of some combination of tapir, capybara, mara, rhea and if you're lucky giant anteaters. I've seen it so many times and it's deathly dull. These species can still be interesting, but not like that.

Basically, this question is impossible, especially because of the use of the word 'hate'. :p
You've seen a Pampas exhibit with all of those species mixed? I've never come across that. The word hate is pretty strong, I agree.

The only Pampas exhibit I've seen holds Giant Anteater, Chacoan Peccary, Maned Wolf, and Greater Rhea. It's suppose to also hold Vicuna but I don't think it's going to happen.

Not only the anatomy but the behaviours and postures ought to recall the live animals in the zoo: blissful relaxation, play, nurture, foraging, mating, visual display.
I would agree that mating is a... natural behavior that often needs to be encouraged, but I am not sure it is one that is best replicated with animatronics of any kind.

I've also never seen a solid Pampas exhibit. Chicago neglects South American habitats.

I don't dislike (or hate, kinda a strong word there) any animal, but I do have some quirks.

-Lions. To be honest, I'm fine with a lot of the ABC animals out there, as even if they're overrated the public likes them and it helps bring money in. However I've never seen a lion do fairly interesting. Like at all. At least I've seen animals like tigers, gorillas and rhinos move around.
-Giant pandas. I've never seen a giant panda ever in person before, however there are a lot of cooler species (IMO) that I'd rather see before I see a giant panda. I just think they're just, well, overrated. But the public loves em :/
-Unnatural morphs. I understand that out there (especially in the pet industry) that there's a lot of animals like birds, fish and reptiles that come in these crazy and rather zany designer colors, but I don't think they have their place in the zoo when there's naturally-colored animals that the public should enjoy instead. I'm also pointing out the whole white big cat issue, I have very little interest as I prefer the wild/natural colors (I'm fine with melanistic jaguars/leopards and any other natural coloration).
-Hybrid animals. Come on now. I give intergrade animals a slide, I'm going on ligers, zebroids, etc. etc.
I'm actually fine with domestic animals and it's nice to chill at the petting section of the zoo when you've been walking/running around all day.

What do you mean by intergrade?

I don't hate seeing the following animals but they do bug me, mostly due to how popular they are:

Meerkats
Asian Small-Clawed Otters
Ring-Tailed Lemurs
Blue-and-Yellow Macaws
Giant African Land Snails
Any Domestic or Breeding-Form animals (with the exception of camelids, dingos, and pond fish)

Also chimpanzees because they creep me out. I don't mind bonobos though.

God, meerkats are the fungi of zoos. They're everywhere. Edinburgh has three enclosures full of them

Either you have miscounted or they have actually *reduced* the number of meerkat exhibits since last August, when @ThylacineAlive and myself counted a half-dozen, plus another former meerkat exhibit recently vacated :p

The interesting thing here is that, before visiting the UK, I had never seen an African giant snail, though now I've seen three. They simply around around in the US, at least not afaik, but I too was sick of them by the end of my jaunt across the pond.

I can see why you'd be sick of seeing them now, after having seen three! :p

How many meerkats did it take? Four? :p
