Species you hate to see in zoos

I doubt that Attenborough has a problem with raptors that cannot survive in the wild.

Last time I was there the Seattle zoo had a raptor show. It wasn't one of those where the birds push little baby carriages and such, but they demonstrate some wild behaviors. I recall hawks and owls. They may have others in the show and they do have raptors on display. I don't remember whether these, too, were unable to survive in the wild.

I think it is pretty common for there to be falconry shows / educational displays at zoos using hawks, owls, eagles and even vultures but I've never heard of shows using raptors to push baby carriages o_O

I know this kind of thing is done with shows at zoos that involve parrots like macaws and cockatoos though.

I enjoy seeing them, but I honesty don't think cetaceans (orcas, dolphins, belugas) should be kept under some circumstances. I think individuals that are bred in captivity or were rescued and unable to return to the wild are okay to keep, but I'm completely against the capture of wild cetaceans solely for the purpose of being put on display in an aquarium.
Having watched the excellent series 'the Aquarium' my views on the subject of cetaceans in captivity have softened somewhat. The educational value and heightening of awareness of the plight of sea creatures was a major feature of the show and not to be undervalued. However, I still disagree with taking cetaceans from the wild purely for exhibition.

Almost all black and brown bears in US zoos are ones that otherwise would have been killed because they were orphans or were becoming too used to humans.
you are confused by what i meant. i don’t HATE bears being in zoos, they just aren’t my favorite to see and i don’t get excited seeing them.

I'm not confused, and I never said you hate seeing them? I responded to the part about seeing them in the wild. I personally like seeing them in (decent) zoos, because it means they were spared being killed.

i don’t know, i just don’t get very excited when i see them. i would much prefer to see them in the wild.

I think most people, if not everyone (with maybe 1 person's exception) prefers seeing animals in the wild over seeing them in a zoo :p

Nothing wrong with not liking bear or not feeling excited to see them (I can't relate to that tho, given my username).

Where I’m from in the UK I actually really like seeing bears as obviously there’s no bears in the wild here so it’s more of a treat to actually just see a bear.

Also, it seems a lot more US zoos have at least one bear species. I can think of a few major UK zoos that have no bear species off the top of my head and only Chester, Edinburgh, Whipsnade and Belfast have more than one.
