The Praha cub (B28/7/2013 Falco X Surami) was PTS on 22nd January following a period of ill health. Translated statement from Prague's website:
Sumatran tiger cub today underwent a veterinary examination, which revealed serious hereditary diseases.
"For a baby tiger keepers noticed ailments subsided even after drug administration. We therefore decided to proceed to a detailed examination, which revealed cystic degeneration of the kidneys, "says veterinarian Zoo Praha Roman fluid. This inherited condition leads to irreversible changes in the kidneys, which causes failure of the function. It is known in domestic and feral cats and is not compatible with long life.
Tiger cub born female Surami 28th July 2013. Shortly before that, during the June floods, Surami repeatedly had to be put to sleep for two weeks and moved to the top of the area. Their young then refused to care enough, so he had to run for rearing assistance breeders. Before his birth and the first months of life were postponed due to increase chances of post-flood repairs Pavilion felines and terrariums.
We firmly believe that the disease tiger cub is the last sad events associated with floods.
Update 22nd January 2014
The health of the baby tiger suddenly deteriorated significantly. The baby stopped showing interest in food and water and were very exhausted. It enlarged painful belly and sunken eyes. The vet along with the breeders have decided to euthanasia.
