The Sun-tailed guenon ( Cercopithecus solatus ) is a rare and little known monkey found in Gabon. It was discribed in 1988 but already in 1984 a single male was brought into captivity followed by 5 more during 1985 and 1986. 3 of them were housed in the primatology centre at the Centre International de Recherches Medicales de Franceville ( Gabon ) and the Station Biologique de Paimpont ( France )
At Franceville on January 20 1989 a male young was born and December 30 1990 a female was born to the same mother. ( source International Zooyear Book )
After this I've found no other information about this species. Does anyone know more how the groups at Franceville and Paimpont ( from which I had heared never before ) have done after 1990 and has the species been kept and bred at any other zoo / primate centre ?
Any information would be very welcome !

I didn't know any had been kept in zoos. I remember when the species was first discovered -- it even made the newspaper in New Zealand!

I have full access, so if you are interested PM me.

In the interest of full information access and exchange to benefit science based research and application it would be SO beneficial if articles / papers and publications were OPEN ACCESS all the time at a mediocre fee for EVERYONE to access / read / enjoy / learn / build upon. :)

I agree, unfortunately this is still far from reality and with the publication of new species in the next annex of HBW I see a dangerous precedent. Luckily most authors are more than happy to share their articles when you explain them why you want it.
