Taipei Zoo Taipei zoo news

Any other exciting news from Taipei Zoo recently?

I know there are some moves in store as well into the zoo and overseas!

Kyoto City Zoo will send a young male Grevy's Zebra to Taipei Zoo.
As I know, now Kyoto City Zoo has 3 Grevy's Zebras, the father "Nanato" (born in 10 July 2012), the mother "Mindy" (born in 26 July 2013), and the son "Minato" (born in 24 July 2020). So the young male that will come to Taipei must be "Minato".

How many Grevy's zebra are already at Taipei Zoo?

Taipei Zoo starts displaying 2 rescued Common Marmosets (There are 6 rescued Common Marmosets in Taipei Zoo).

There is a Malayan Tapir in pregnancy, and will give birth in July or August this year.

Interestingly, I found a link to a 2020 of a Malayan tapir born on September 14, 2020.

"Taipei Zoo is the most famous and popular urban zoo in Taiwan. It is easy to reach by the MRT system. It allows visitors not only immersing in zoo exhibitions but also exploring wildlife in surrounding natural habitat. There are 8 outdoor areas and 6 indoor houses, including the "Giant Panda House." Come and enjoy the trip in Taipei Zoo!"
UNQOUTE

Which makes me wonder if the Taipeh Zoo has more female tapirs than just the one?
(mind you gestation is longer than the usual 9 months)

Breeding pair:
M ? (born 15/10/2015, Praha Zoo) - arrived on B/L April 2018
F Mofen (born ? Taipeh Zoo?)
F2 ?

As I know, Taipei now has at least 3 males and 3 females, they still need new bloodlines.

Thanks ISAO, so I would be correct in assuming the 2021 calf is from a different breeding pairing?
Do you have any information on which animals?

The father is the same as the calf born in 2020, and the mother is “貘莉“, she is the boy born in 2020’s mother’s sister.

Annual reports of Taipei Zoo since 2001. If you want to see what animals Taipei has got or been sent to other places, check the "03_動物保育與研究 (Animal Conservation and Research)" of every year, then go to part 4 "動物引進及交換 (Introduction and Exchange of Animals)".

I guess not, cause Kyoto City Zoo has no giant anteaters. I guess it would be Higashiyama.
Right, forgive me my ignorance, possibly @PossumRoach would know more on the status of giant anteaters in Japanese zoos. I will check myself if I can find anything interesting.

The Kyoto deal is for gorilla and Grevy's zebra?
