I'll be visiting Taipei Zoo in around 10 days.

Does anyone here know the best time to watch the pangolins and nocturnal animals around Aye-Aye?

Some zoos in Japan have their nocturnal exhibits with lights on during the first hour after opening. I was wondering if Taipei was doing something similar.

A nice addition for a nocturnal house. I do hope they can manage and make up pairs with females of their species.

Dwarf Lemur was most active at closing, try to go a little before 4:30 when the dome closes. The others were active and easily seen, including the new group of Bush babies. Similar for pangolin, although they fed the mother and baby around noon. The Ferret Badger seems to be variable, I had to make a return visit and that day they fed it around 4:50, they didn't do that the day before. Hope you have a good visit! It is a great zoo!

A female great hornbill died, which means now Taipei has 1.0 individual.

Date of arrival: December 05, 2001
Date of death: January 04, 2025
Cause of death: digestive tract adhesion caused by inflammation of body cavity, also had liver disease

1. A female Malayan tiger "Serikin" will be moved to Singapore.
2. A pair of pangolin will be transported to Zoo Vienna.

Malayan tiger "Serikin" was transfered to Singapore, arrived on Feb. 26, 2025. Now Taipei has 0.1 Malayan tiger "Shima", and will have a male from Singapore.

A female pygmy slow loris called "Chö" was transfered to Taipei from Ostrava Zoo (Czech), arrived on 5 March 2025. Now there are 4 (3.1) pygmy slow lorises in Taipei.

Losing the second high profile animal after the young pygmy hippo! Any news what was wrong with Thabo .... (as he passed away soon on arrival)?

The male in question is mentioned to be four years old - so it should indeed be Sali. The parks other male (Sulong) is much older.

For some reason I thought 'Arhaa' was a female, but your right he's a male as well. I guess it would have to be either one of the brothers then.

The male is set to arrive by this June. He will also be quarantined prior to the move, so whichever male it is should be moved off display soon if they haven't already.

Arhaa and Sali are twin brothers. I believe Sali is the one being transferred.

Recently Taipei lost 1.0 grey wolf, 1.1 koalas, 0.1 African elephant, the wolf was 沃夫 (WO-FU), koalas were 奇奇 (Chip) and 芙蓉 (FU-JUNG), the elephant was 千惠 (CHIEN-HUI).

Any idea which of the five cows it was?

The wolf was 沃夫 (WO-FU), koalas were 奇奇 (Chip) and 芙蓉 (FU-JUNG), the elephant was 千惠 (CHIEN-HUI).

Sad news to hear about Chien Hui. She would have been about 43 years old.
