On a side-note to meerkats, I've visited both London and Chester within the last 6 days and around the 4 meerkat enclosures between the parks, I heard enough of "compare the meerkat! ha ha!" to last a lifetime![]()
I understand this point of view. We could consider alternative species. Small-clawed otters and red river hogs spring to mind.

Off the top of my head, Exmoor, Dartmoor and IOW don't keep them.
You`ve not visited Eden Ostrich World then because if you had you wouldn`t say Tropiquaria was bad, also Noahs Ark ZooFarms isn`t far behind Edens in my book.Tropiquaria has a poor meerkat enclosure. Its the worst I've ever seen. Its absolutely tiny and what looks like the air vent from the cafe comes out in it meaning the whole exhibit smells of chip fat. Id say the whole enclosure was roughly... seven metres across, five wide. But that may not be accurate because I'm going on memory.

Doesn't happen to be Romsey's World of Water by any chance? The amount of times I hear that sort of thing walking through there...![]()
It's not just 'Finding Nemo' or 'Comparethemeerkat' either. The Lion King, Jungle Book and the Cadbury's Gorilla often get mentioned/repeated at zoos
