Our positions on the medals table were swapped for the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

That is true, the home crowd does help! We'll see how things go in Rio in 2016! ;)

As for The Ashes, I can't comment as I agree with jbnbsn99 that cricket (whilst being as British as tea and scones) is absolutely, mind numbingly, spirit crushingly boring! :D
And that's a sport we don't appear to be bad at, shame I can't get in to it. I think it'd be better if it didn't go on for days at a time.

I'm really surprised by this position nanoboy, it doesn't sound like you at all! Prude much :D I'm not sure about the sports so much, some of them do seem like a bit of a perve-fest, but nudity can be a powerful tool in telling a story in mainstream movies (e.g. Titanic, Love Actually), where it is not depicted gratuitously but thoughtfully. Just my thoughts.
 
I remember saying to only focus on football, but that's being ignored.

Mostly the same as yours. Only the last two are different. I think that Real Madrid will eliminate ManU and Porto will be better then Malaga.


My Predictions for Championships in European Leagues:

GERMANY: Bayern Munich (if not, then the most important point for me is that they beat Borussia Dortmund in the Cup).

SWITZERLAND: FC Basel (although I keep my fingers crossed for current leader Grasshopper Zurich)

NETHERLANDS/HOLLAND: Twente Enschede (although I like Ajax more)

SPAIN: FC Barcelona (who else?)

PORTUGAL: Benfica

FRANCE: PSG

ITALY: Juventus

ENGLAND: Manchester United (better a club sponsored by an american capitalist then one sponsored by shaky russian oligarchs or islamic oil sheiks)

Well even if took all the sports in the Olympics 2012 the great country of Australia still finished below the might County of Yorkshire in the medal table:D:p
 
You guys sound surprised that I dislike unnecessary nudity in sports and movies. It is true though. At strip clubs, the women are far more attractive and flexible, and you don't have to have a keen eye to catch when a top slips to the side. Same goes for adult movies. Time and place. While sex does add to a movie, it can be tastefully done like for TV shows.
 
Just when you think UEFA cannot get any dafter they announce that the 2020 European championship finals will take place in THIRTEEN countries.

Well at least Northern Ireland, Scoltand and Wales have a chance of being hosts.

I had myself watch a live Soccer (Football) scrimage yesterday and it wasn't that bad. I watched a Lacrosse game after and found it vastly confusing and had a very difficult time keeping track of the ball.

I always think of lacrosse as being a girls' sport. So in America it is the sport that is played by men not tough enough for ice hockey or ping-pong?

People get hurt. They don't wear as much padding as in American Football and they constantly seem to get beat up with the metal stick and tackled. One kid walked off the field with a large gash on his leg. My friend plays and he prefers it over Ice Hockey and American Football (both of which he's played).

oh people get hurt in ping-pong too. One of those balls can take an eye out! I knew one guy who had two glass eyes after losing his real ones in a ping-pong match. He still played but wasn't much good any more.....
