The Nonsense Thread

I had a weird dream last night about going to a subpar private-run zoo collection (which was a weirder form of the closed Landon Creek Bird Sanctuary). Some of the notable differences were the following:

- There were tons of duplicate enclosures/aviaries/tanks, and each one had a different, incorrect label. I can recall duplicate minnow, platy, snakeneck and Reeves turtle tanks with false labels as belonging to rare species, and the turtle tanks were all muddy water with no access to dry land. Logically the turtles would have drowned but dreams in general don't make sense.

- There were random glass display tables with tons of common Florida shark teeth.

- There were multiple tanks/terrariums for blue-tongued and Cunningham's skinks (in the dream I was especially mad and confused as Cunningham's skinks are very rare in New Zealand and the only few breeders are very careful who they sell them to, and the skinks were being kept in bare tanks with no UV and one blue-tongue was dead). Apart from them and the turtles there were no other reptiles in the park.

- There were many aviaries, not bare but tiny and overgrown with foliage, which had a lot of kakas (!), kea-cockatoo hybrids (dreams make a lot of sense), and a dream/non-existent parrot species called a "Brazil" which basically had the coloration and patterns of a rainbow lorikeet superimposed on the body of a sulphur-crested cockatoo. Disturbingly, the Brazils appeared to be sapient.

I swear I did not make any of this up and this has been written to the best of my memory.

so, I just watched the 1992 pilot episodes for the American version of Red Dwarf on Youtube. They are awful. So awful that they made two different pilots, and neither progressed any further. The first pilot is more or less just the original first episode reshot with woefully-miscast American actors (just as one example, Lister is played by a guy who is 6'3" and looks like a model). The second pilot is a horrible mish-mash of re-shot scenes from various episodes of the original series, with different actors for the Cat and Rimmer from those in the first pilot.

Fun actor-spotting - the second Cat is played by Terry Farrell (Jadzia Dax from Deep Space Nine) and Holly is played by Jane Leeves (Daphne from Frasier).

The Natural History Museum is hard at work identifying it... looks like a tough identification challenge:rolleyes:

I highly doubt any readers of that article are in any doubt about the identification of the animal, it's just for clicks so that everyone reading it can feel clever that they weren't fooled.

I saw this on yesterday's episode of Have I Got News for You (not quite sure what that says about me, but anyway) and thought it was quite simply a work of genius. Definitely appropriate for this thread anyway.

I don't know what that programme is, but what does it say about me that I recognised Pitite Oudy in pachyderm pro's video?

Well sense were all admitting to random shenanigans...

What does it say about me that I watched dancing with the stars, just because Bindi Irwin was on the show, and have watched every season since?
