Has anyone here actually flown on the Concorde? I would have loved to. A uni mate's father was the president of semi conductors at Sony, and he flew on it with his dad. He said that it was quite uncomfortable because there was just one class (cattle class) and the seats were quite small and there was not much legroom. I am not sure how true that is though.


Could Concorde ever fly again?

Ten years ago both British Airways and Air France retired their fleets of Concordes, and commercial air travel got a little slower.

I have mixed feelings. The world is richer because of his life and probably poorer with his passing. However, he was plagued with illness in his latter days, and maybe his passing was a release for him.

I love this particular saying from the article you posted: “If there is anything that would kill me it is to wake up in the morning not knowing what to do.”
 
Fascinating read. If we melted all the gold in the world, all we would be left with is a cube 20m (60ft) long on each edge.


Why do we value gold?

Why of all the chemical elements did gold - an almost completely inert metal with limited industrial uses - come to be valued so highly?
