The emu, birds, and bear ones are just ridiculous. The turtle one I can understand, in Vietnam there is a saying that goes "If a turtle bites you, the sky is grim and it will not let go", I know this is not true, but is just a traditional saying enough to scare people. Snakes do bite, but only when provoked or necessary, so I can also understand that. The following misconceptions I have heard
Emu is a big duck
Lemurs are monkeys
Bears are a type of dog
Birds are mammals
Turtles are scary
Snakes bite
I know that the Zoo Decisions threads was split, but other than that I don't think any others, maybe some of the ZooChat Challenge threads, but I don't think any others.Ok so how many threads have been split recently so I know which ones I have to re-subscribe, too...

I was wondering this also. Seems to be more confusing than it does help. (I know the Design-A-Zoo thread was split).Ok so how many threads have been split recently so I know which ones I have to re-subscribe, too...

The other day I was at my home zoo and I saw two people playing catch with a rubber ball. IN THE ZOO. Eventually one of the people threw it too hard and it ended up in the Emu exhibit. The older of the two people looked like he was considering jumping the fence to get it, but he didn't in the end. Not sure what happened to the ball. Wouldn't be surprised if the Emus ate it.
Many people would not know one species of penguin from another. Not dumb, just not well informed.I get why some people, especially young children, think that all penguins like cold weather. But older people saying that about Humboldt, Magellanic and African penguins? That would be the dumbest thing I'd ever hear.

One animal can't be 1 1/2 animalsAt Dublin Zoo I overheard a woman calling an Okapi, "Half horse, half giraffe, half zebra". Also during that visit it was snowing and I seen quite a few snowballs being thrown at animals.
a red panda described as being the same as ‘Rocky Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy.’
That’s very true, would’ve helped if they knew his name was actually Rocket though.Never heard about the trash panda before? Logical confusion if you ask me.![]()

I’m aware of that but if you asked them they unfortunately probably would not. That's not where the term "trash panda" comes from of course
