Things That Irritate You in Life

Every artist I know is furious with AI art and the companies creating the platform. There are confirmed reports of copyrighted and stolen works being used, and issues with companies not being forefront with the fact they're distributing works to AI use. Several companies have already fired artists and gone to using AI so they don't have to pay salary. It's going over really really badly as a whole.
Yes, copyrighted works are being used in training images - and a person could theoretically make a custom training set with any set of images they want. I think you could argue the latter is copyright infringement, but the former really feels like it falls under fair use. It's being used for a different purpose than the original (which US courts have ruled count under fair use) and it's one of many thousands of images in the set. It isn't just going to copy someone's image

I am only arguing for the copyright issue here, I totally understand all of the other issues with AI art and think criticism is fair.
One, just because we have it doesn't mean it's a good thing that should be used.
Two, given I can remember when there were more cassette tapes and vhs tapes than DVDs and CDs, to the point where now most laptops don't even have cd players anymore I kind of disagree with the point in general. Tech marches on at a rather crazy rate and relatively little is around for all that long.
I guess, but what your proposed solution be here? Ban it? Seems harsh. The technology exists now, there's no going back, like it or not. It kinds of feels like we just have to accept it at this point.

CDs aren't being used much anymore because most people find little use for them. Can you imagine a future now where AI is no longer useful to people? I sure cannot.

No, it clearly won't be banned outright and clearly won't go away - I'm not sure you'd even be able to write a law that could ban it without restricting all kinds of other things, unless you literally went app by app. That doesn't mean though that we shouldn't encourage people not to use it (this applies to a lot of things we have the technology for - from private surveillance kit to opioid production outside regulation to nuclear weapons - some are able to be legislated against, but many simply aren't practical).

NFTs on the other hand are far more likely to just disappear at some point - but it would almost certainly be via legal issues (fraud etc) eroding trust or simple supply-and-demand forces and economics rather than their environmental harm.

Ok, one thing that really irritates me is coaches in certain areas (i.e. dating, business, life, mental health and addiction recovery etc.) that claim they can get results for their clients that they can't even get for themselves. In other words, certain unqualified marketers or scammers that don't even belong in those spaces.

It is especially sad when vulnerable people fall for these services hook line and sinker, and spend their hard earned money on these dishonest and incompetent people.

In relation to that, when staff at a place that is supposed to be helping me (and others) learn how to live life and basically help ease into adulthood are genuinely less competent at certain things than I am. I know everyone knows different things, but I feel like if you work at a program like that, you should be confident riding the city bus....

This reminds me of a joke:
A shepherd is doing his job, watching his flock of sheep. Suddenly a fancy car drives by, stops and a guy gets out. He asks the shepherd: "If I can tell you exactly how many sheep you have, can I have one?" The shepherd agrees. So the guy gets a computer and works on it for hours. In the end, he teils the shepherd that he has 313 sheep. The shepherd confirms this, so the guy proceeds to pick up a sheep and carry it to the car. The shepherd stops him. "If I can tell what you do for a living, will you leave it where it was?" The man agrees. "You're a business consultant/coach." "How did you know that?" "You come in unannounced, waste my time to tell & charge me for what I already know and yet you know nothing about my business. Now would you please put down my sheepdog?"

I have never heard that before, but that is funny.

I have been feeling frustrated and stuck with the zoo hobby lately.

I'm barely making any progress with processing photos - I have barely or not all even started on several of my larger 2022 zoo visits - and I'm pretty much totally stuck in the swamp with regards to another aspect of the zoo hobby, namely speculative zoo design work.

I have been seriously considering given up on some parts of the hobby, notably the latter mentioned above, even if I do still feel like I want to do it - but feel like I'll never have the energy to do it, or just spend way too much time on it.

In general I feel like I'm just not getting much done or making any progress lately. I've also been quickly tired and quite irritable and easily upset in general lately, which worries me regarding my zoo visit plans for this years, and possibly calls them into question.

I don't really know where to go from here.

When I'm feeling overwhelmed with photos, I break them down in to smaller folders. Instead of trying to finish the entire zoo, I'll do folders for each section/building or something like that. That way I'm still making progress, and it's easy to keep what I've done organized, but it isn't so overwhelming.

That is great advice. I have a sizeable backlog of zoo, aquarium, museum, and wildlife photos myself...

Oh, I know this is unlikely to land on the zoo nerd website, but when people get up and block your view during a hockey game.... or come down from the concourse during the play. I miss the days of the small cord that blocked people coming down during the play. I guess to make it more general: people moving around and blocking your view of a show/sport thing...

The price of healthy food compared to junk food. Yesterday a New Zealand supermarket was selling a head of broccoli for the six times the price as a large bag of potato chips.

Subsidise the healthy food and add tax on the junk food. The obesity rates will plummet.

I couldn't agree with that more! It is sad to see a lot of people, especially in the United States living in food deserts (A food desert is an area that has limited access to affordable and nutritious food). I'll also say, one thing that can be aggravating is the portion sizes of many meals. No wonder why so many people, especially in certain regions have obesity, diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. Not to make this personal, but I am 5 feet 10 inches tall and I used to weigh 230 pounds, but now I am down to the 180s. Fortunately I was able to do this, but the way I did this is making my general dietary rule, "No artificial or processed sweets, No artificial or processed snack foods, No fast food, and No chain restaurants, but anything outside of that is fair game as long as it is home-cooked or made at some small business Mom and Pop restaurant, even if it includes high calorie meals like pizza, burgers, fried chicken, lasagna etc." I would also add to that, being mindful of portion sizes. That has been the best I could do...

Another thing that irritates me is the fact that 40 percent of the food we produce (farmed and ranched) goes to waste. This certainly contributes to climate change and biodiversity loss. Excessive portion sizes definitely play a role here! Waste in general seems heavily ingrained in our society and our economic system.
