Things That Irritate You in Life

I'm not a fan of standard conventions that vary internationally, mostly between the US and everywhere else, like Celsius/Fahrenheit and the metric system/imperial system. The ones that really make me do a double take of sudden confusion are writing dates as day/month/year vs. month/day/year (this can ruin an Excel spreadsheet) and the comma and period in numbers being reversed (1.000,00 vs. 1,000.00).

Here is something else that really irritates me, when people get angry, lash out at me or take it personally and accuse me of wasting their time when I don't take their advice. This is especially irritating when they give advice when it was uninvited or not asked for.

Sometimes even if I really like, appreciate, or see the value in their advice, I am not yet ready to take it or I am not in a position at the moment where I am capable of taking it or am able to take it.

Frankly, sometimes people's advice misses the mark and is irrelevant or non sequitur at best or it is absolutely horrible and hair-brained at worst. Believe me, I have had my share of that...

This might stem from the medieval European classification of “the birds and the beasts.” They considered the eagle the king of birds, and the lion the king of beasts, so a griffin in heraldry was a combination of the two.
Maybe but I think that's stretching it a bit

People who say that 9 + 10 is 21 when it's clearly 19. First, it's just reciting a decade-old meme. Second, it is not an appropriate meme at all because this dad CALLS HIS OWN SON STUPID for saying that 9 + 10 is 21. I feel like I have heard people saying it in public thousands of times and I am sick of it.

That's not his dad, it's his brother. The whole thing is just a joke, the "your stupid" wasn't serious and both of the people in the video know that.

Also, it's 21...? Not sure what you mean about it being 19.

I'm not even familiar with the meme you guys are referring to. I'd make an "oh god I'm old" joke but I was still extremely online a decade ago.

I don't think that Zoos should make enclosures that readily welcome wild animals that may cause harm to the captive individuals. Grey Herons entering a pond for the Giraffes is okay. Wild Crab Eating macaques stealing food from red river hogs is another thing though... https://www.zoochat.com/community/media/red-river-hogs-and-wild-crab-eating-macaques.691090/full

Don't get me wrong, I love that Zoos have wild animals living on their grounds. I just don't think that they should be getting into the Captive Animal enclosure. This also may bring harm to the wild animal. For example, the crab eating macaques were foraging for food inside the lion enclosure, and one of the Asiatic lion keepers at night Safari said that the lions sometimes maul the colugos that enter the enclosure.

I have realized plenty of things annoy me.
- Bad parenting
- Inefficiency.
- Internet coaches and gurus (those who sell "become a ladies' guy" or "get rich quick" formulas)
- Modern architecture ("form follows function") and music.
- Not being able to hold a conversation about my hobbies without being labeled as boring or called a weirdo by others.
- Online ads.
- Overhead wiring.
- Snoring.

- Having lots of difficulty to identify a species and realize it's a hybrid/generic animal.
- Inefficiency.
- Loud people.
- Pay-to-win games.
- People who never take anything seriously.
- Scam artists on the internet.
- Sports fans, especially those who won't shut up about it. My pet peeve is with soccer fans, ugh, I hate them.
- The scrapping of public institutions so that they can be privatized.

- Games based 100% on just luck
- Being anywhere (such as being on a real roller coaster) with kids who feel the need to scream at the top of their lungs
- People that have inappropriate usernames in online games by just changing letters in them
- How some YouTubers talk on how they live their life
- People that take the Lord's name in vain for no reason
- Scammers that impersonate people I know
- How some people give weird and/or rude "nicknames" to celebrities

People who exaggerate how dangerous an animal is. Don't get me wrong; of course humans need to treat animals with respect and use appropriate caution. But sometimes the animals are painted in a completely unnecessary way. Like moose, I have seen many people on social media claim how dangerous and aggressive moose are and that they attack easily and with no warning. But all my encounters have been peaceful. Since I moved to my summer house in May, I have met moose at least one time a weak. And all my encounters have been peaceful—even females with calfs and bulls during rutting season. Stingrays are another example. After Irwin's death, many people seem to view stingrays as some hyper-aggressive, easily provoked killers, but all my encounters have been very pleasant; they are very timid and either swim away or just stay in the sand. I have never seen them display any aggressiveness. Creating a negative image of an animal as something more dangerous than it actually is may scare people from going out to explore the great outdoors and to learn to be fascinated by these animals.

For me irrational fear of animals is also annoying for conservation reasons. For example, in Massachusetts people are opposing reintroducing native rattlesnakes because they see them as a threat to humans.

My biggest pet peeve is what I call the "Nemo". Whenever I'm at an aqaurium or anywhere with live fish for that matter. I always here the word "nemo" and it drives me crazy. Any fish is called "nemo". It's especially annoying when I'm reading the signage and illistrating the marine life. Once I was so angry, some guy yelled "hey kids let's see "Nemo" I screamed at the aqaurium.(Don't worry I never did that again) People not reading signage or listening to someone trying to talk to them makes me annoyed too. Also when bloggers talk about their routine and luxuries other people don't have.

Some aquariums have even leaned into this. This is actual signage from the now closed World Aquarium in St. Louis, Missouri:

Coyotes and mountain lions are perfect examples of this. Whenever the news media reports an incident, they only help create more fear of these animals.

How anxious, irritated, nervous and easily stressed I have been feeling lately. It's been a long time it was bad enough to require me largely tuning out from the news, but for the time being it sadly is.
