Thread of the Year 2018: Submissions

There seems to be a slight a misunderstanding. The intent is for you to vote for three different threads to be nominated, not just one. So one of the three could be the thread you just mentioned, but you must also select two other threads that you think deserve a chance.
No I understood perfectly. It is just as I said I can't think of any others to nominate. The honest truth is I spend little time on ZooChat reading threads and the bulk of my time reading reported posts in the moderator only section. If you want to disqualify my nomination that's fine because several others have also nominated the same thread so it will get in regardless.

1. Europe's 50 must see zoos by @lintworm - one of the only threads outside of the United Kingdom or Wildlife and Nature Conservation sections that I actively sought out; a brilliant review

2. TLD's Photographic Guide to Small Carnivores by @TeaLovingDave - my favourite of these photographic collections to begin this year

3. Hamerton news 2018 by @littleRedPanda - because I almost inevitably loved the news coming from the place whenever I visited this thread

I feel like that shouldn't count.. The thread was split in 2018 not created. It'd be like someone voting for a thread created in 2011 just because it was broken up into multiple parts.

Sorry, but I think it should count. Even if it was split, that still means it is a thread on 2018. It fits all the criteria and that pretty much eliminates all of the Q2's of the Big Year and Chester Zoo News thread.

So if/when The Nonsense Thread gets split it'll count for this/next year's submissions? Doesn't make sense to me, especially since both of your examples are always started new on the 1st of each year and then get split up as the year goes on.

EDIT: It doesn't meet all the criteria because it still wasn't started in 2018, it just picks up in 2018. Also the credit then would not go to @Zoofan15, it'd go to @Ebirah766 as he is the first post of the thread.

I personally wouldn't vote for a thread that was split from last year, but if THREE ZooChatters think it deserves it, I'm not say it doesn't count, especially because in the opening post @pachyderm pro doesn't say anything against them.

However, I would also completely understand if Pachy says they don't count. It's his competition, so it's really up to him.

I believe the split of ‘The Never Ending Story’ does count as a valid entry using the logic that Pachyderm Pro said ‘Zoo Decisions’ which is made up of 6 parts does not count as one thread (i.e. you can’t vote for ‘Zoo Decisions’, you have to choose one of the six splits of 'Zoo Decisions'). Therefore, why shouldn't it work the same for 'The Never Ending Story - Part 2'?

Well last year I wasn't allowed to vote for @Chlidonias Goes To Asia Part 5 because it started in 2016, so if PP allows it then last years vote should be invalid in my opinion... :p

The difference is that Zoo Decisions was started in 2018. The Never Ending Story was not.

That’s like saying if I make a series of threads based on ‘Zoo Decisions’ next year called ‘Zoo Decisions 2’, then that’ll be invalid as an entry because the original ‘Zoo Decisions’ started in 2018???

The START DATE of the 'Never Ending Story -Part 2' is 2018.

Well yeah, if you make a brand new thread in a different year then it's a different thread. We're talking about one thread that was always intended to be one thread (the longest thread ever apparently...) but then split up for organization reasons. I mean the very first post is a quote of the last post on the original they're very clearly the same thing.

And as I mentioned before if it counts for this challenge then you shouldn't get the credit as the creator, as the first post is by somebody else.

I agree @Zoofan15 . But Zoo decisions 2 is sort of a whole new thread since we start the whole zoo again whereas The never ending story is a split thread because of Organisation reasons.

I’m still voting for The never ending story part 2 though, until @pachyderm pro says otherwise.
