Well, that's really a bummer :). That said, my next trip thread will start on 16 December at 12:01 am.

There have been quite a few interesting threads this year, but I found it hard to select 3 and it feels weird to include them while that haven't finished yet, but with both I am confident they will finish and be brilliant all the way.

I wanted to nominate @Jurek7 Zoo of the Future: A Photographic Gallery of Innovation in Zoological Gardens of the World But I found out it started slightly too early to count.

Alternatively the European trip by @Kudu21 Planning a Tentative European Zoo Trip - Fall 2024/Spring 2025 was great fun on the planning part, but unfortunately the trip reports haven't materialized (yet?), so just an honorary mention from me ;)

Anything goes as long as it was created within the last year. Even if it's part of an annual series of threads, if it's one of your favorites you're welcome to nominate it.

This might be a dumb question but if you can vote for any thread you want, can you even vote for this the thread of the year nominations thread or the final poll for the 2023 TOTY if you wanted to? :p As far as I know, they were created between December 15th, 2023 and December 15th, 2024, so they should be eligible. ;)

Looking back at the other nominations threads from past years, I'm surprised to be the first person to bring this up in the history of the 8 years of this competition! ;)

I get that, it just feels a bit less exciting, you know? It almost feels like it doesn't count, even though I know it technically does. And of course, I think a scenario of a Big Year thread actually winning one year would be basically impossible, unless there truly were no interesting threads that year.

I mean, I normally wouldn't vote for it to win, but IMO the big year threads almost always deserve my nomination.
 
Bumping this up for anyone has hasn't made nominations yet. Surprisingly close race, so every one counts.
