The zoo on Facebook is teasing that a new animal is coming to the Barnyard area from the looks of it it's a miniature cow Log in to Facebook
I also heard this from a visitor at Cleveland who said he goes every day. So if both of us heard this he most likely did pass before he was able to move. For any Toledo locals - can you ask about Edgar the amur leopard? Someone on Facebook is claiming he passed before he could arrive in Toledo from Cleveland but either zoo would have said something.
I was there that same day, WOW!Few updates from Tuesday's visit:
Africa!
• Apparently there's a 15,000-gallon fish tank for african fish, I only saw cichlids. It is in the event center.
Tembo Trail
• Both Tasmanian Devils have sadly passed, and the zoo is trying to decide what to do with that enclosure.
• The reptile house looks amazing! The crocodile exhibit is massive and the entry exhibit will be for anacondas and amazon fish and possibly lizards, similar to MOLA's galleries.
Aquarium
• The old touch tan for inverts now houses multiple nano reef tanks with coral.
• There is 50+ new species of fish in the aquarium.
Galapagos Garden and Ziem's Conservatory
• The aldabra tortoises are on exhibit, in the right habitat.
• The new conservatory will be a permanent addition, with some more species to join.
• If you look into the actual conservatory, you can see some monitor species and deep inside the tuatara!
Really cool to compare notes with my visit. I'm hoping to come back next year to see the new Reptile House when it opens and revisit the facility. No wonder the old devil enclosure wasn't open on my visit but shame to hear they both passed. I'm glad the Conservatory will be permanent, a walkthrough reptile exhibit was very novel and I enjoyed it.Few updates from Tuesday's visit:

A Southern Three Banded Armadillo has been born! There are no ideas on the gender and this is Honeybee’s first offspring. The Toledo Zoo on Instagram: "We’re shell-ebrating the arrival of an adorable baby armadillo at Toledo Zoo! Meet the proud Southern three-banded armadillo parents: Kris (dad) and Honeybee (mom)! This is Honeybee’s first pup, and while we don’t know the baby’s gender yet, we’re rolling with excitement for our newest addition. When this little one was born, it was the size of a golf ball. In just three weeks, it’s already grown to the size of a baseball—gaining 90-100 grams per week! This pairing was part of the Species Survival Plan (SSP) and we’re thrilled to share a successful result from this breeding recommendation. Both mom and baby are thriving and receiving routine checks from our keepers. The armadillos currently reside in the Aviary and aren’t viewable just yet, but we’ll keep sharing updates on their progress. Stay tuned! #toledozoo #toledoohio #babyanimals #zooborns #babyarmadillo #armadillo #cuteanimals"
I am not sure, but from what I’ve seen, viewing is terrible for visitors and it is hard to maintain that habitat, along with housing a species.A question: does anyone know why they seem to have given up on using The Valley (which long held cheetahs and then briefly reindeer) as exhibit space?
Best to contact the zoo. I have no clue, as they both are newer, but I will try to find out.Hello, I wanted to know what are the names of the two Plains zebra at the Zoo?
