Went to the zoo today. Here are some tidbits from my visit. Most are nothing of significance while others may be something of more interest.
The Arctic Wolf pack was really active. So that was nice to see. That exhibit is great for a large active pack, especially in the snow, where they really shine.
Managed to get a look at the new Tawny Frogmouth, Erkle. He looks smaller than old Makepeace, but that could be the angle I saw him from. Either way, the species is such an interesting looking bird.
While in the walkthrough aviary a saw at least 2 Scarlet-Chested Parrots flying around. Are these little guys new? I don’t remember seeing them before. I’ll try uploading a photo tomorrow.
Americas Pavilion was closed off.
I decided to check out the washrooms just to see how the renovations looks, plus nature called. So I checked out the washrooms at the African Restaurant (not the Simba Safari Lodge), and it was not the washrooms Dolf has been teasing on instagram, but they have been renovated. Nice clean renovation for sure. The washrooms that Dolf has been teasing are the ones at the top of the boardwalk from Indo-Malaya. That washroom is real nice. I’d say best washrooms at the zoo now.
Last point to note from my visit is that there is a lot of maintenance being done around the core woods, around the Sumatran Tiger exhibit, as well as in the entrance of Indo-Malaya. Lots of workers moving lots of shrubs and vegetation. I can't help and wonder if it's general maintenance or prep work on work to be done to the boardwalk.
