Toronto Zoo Toronto Zoo Future Developments 2013

I'd like it if they scrapped it and started over. New photos, info, updates, babies, graphics, videos, blogs, comments, webcams and an interactive zoo map that includes layouts of the pavilion interiors.
 
Due to the terrible icestorm in the region, the zoo may be forced to close down tommorow (Monday Dec 23). I don't blame them, as I wonder how many animals (and people!) actually made it outside today? Also, has there been any other times where the zoo has been forced to close?
 
Well Im guessing it had to be closed for the 1998 ice storm. I believe there have been a couple of strikes too... I dont think it happens often that they close down. But better safe than sorry. Plus we dont know how many exhibits have been damaged (thinking broken trees mostly that would make it unsafe to let animals out). With all the ice its likely the paths need to be throughly salted and broken free from the ice, keepers are probably having issues getting in much less getting around the zoo to feed and clean. I would guess they are probably on a skeleton staff who can make it in so its not as safe for guests. But really your right why bother opening the zoo in the first place if people cant even get around. Who in their right mind would try going to the zoo?
 
Oh just found a link on the zoos facebook page to the Tozookeepers twitter account and they have posted photos of some of the damage at the zoo. You can see exactly why they dont want guests right now. Not that their is significant damage but its a dangerous place. Scroll though the whole thing. THeres an awesome pick of baby Josephine with a keeper.
 
Toronto has done a 2013 year in review for those interested. Posted it here because it really does belong in 2013 not 2014.

There is baby photos in the back. Now they were lazy and you have to delete the pick on top to see the next baby. Starts with Remy, Mstari, what is likely our new very brown zebra foal, penguin chicks, Moose twins, lemurs, warthog triplets, and black footed ferret pups. I think they should have included Rio. Shes another major animal birth for the year... I dont thinnk there was another big animal birth they missed out on besides her.
