Why would they send Kali away when she's so young? I can see why, there is a lot of them in such a small area, but Kali isn't even a year old. And in a zoo collections magazine said that she and Shani were only re-introduced back to the herd in Febuary.

Meaghan was most likely refering to Zabrina. The foal from 2007.

And the reason why okapikpr knows about it is because she is probably at White Oak

They just arn't in the book, Rosi is off exhibit because of health problums.

The animals off display page of the Toronto Zoo was updated and now states "African fur seals are OFF display indefinitely."

And it looks like they finally removed the cheetahs from that list when they updated it even though they had been back on exhibit for almost a month.

Best of luck to her, do you know the plans for her? Will she breed?

Its too bad that Rosi wont be exhibited to the public anymore!

How is Zebrina doing, okapikpr? Apparently she surprised everyone by loading smoothly in the trailer when she left (she can be a bit ... spastic at times :D). Other recent departures include Coco the Amur tiger and the three red river hog kids.

Rosi the fur seal is doing well. She had some eye issues earlier in the spring, and we've been adjusting her routine to make sure she has a good quality of life. Right now, she goes out to the exhibit every day, but only first thing in the morning (from 7:30 until 10:30), since the sun is the weakest at that point. She always has access into the house if she wants to (since the sun sometimes bothers her eyes). After 10:30, she has access to the "middle pool", the small black salt water pool behind the main exhibit. Because she can always go up to the house (and isn't really visible in the middle pool), it was decided to simply close the exhibit instead of dealing with complaints about where the seal is.

Oh, Coco left too? I heard Jack had left for the Granby Zoo. Where's Coco headed?

On that note, we have been very surprised by her demeanor (despite the notes you all gave us) which has remained very calm since her arrival. We have her in our quarantine facility with an older mare from our herd. Hopefully, we can integrate her into the herd before the foaling season begins...we are expecting at least half dozen foals this year...the first in many years.

Wow, half a dozen! Hope all survive! Best of luck! How many Grevy's Zebras do you currently have?

We currently have 1.13, our breeding herd consist of 1.7, a seperate mare herd contains 0.4, and of course the 0.2 in quarantine. We are expecting 4.0 from St Catherine's Island within the year.

Glad to hear about Zebrina, Coco, the red river hogs and especially Rosi (Im a huge fan of the fur seals!)

Just one question, where did the red river hog kids go?

The polar bears are arriving this week!
Inukshuk should be in tomorrow, with Aurora and Nikita coming later in the week!
The snow leopard cubs are also on exhibit now.
