I have decided to make a new thread dedicated to the reviews of the Toronto Zoo. I know Zoogoer and I have been writing reviews and that they take up some space in the general Toronto Zoo Thread.
My first review is Indo Malaya Outdoor Exhibits and Malayan Woods Pavilion.
Indo Malaya Outdoor Exhibits Review! 2008
Lion-tailed Macaque: This exhibit is good for the outside/inside areas, more foliage should be added, and maybe an open air exhibit.
Indian Rhino: More trees and shrubs should be considered in this exhibit. He exhibit has a pond and is defiantly a good exhibit for these species, they could have more room, but they don’t seem to be bothered by the size.
Malayan Tapir: Should be about the size of the Indian Rhino exhibit, and defiantly more foliage. They should have a larger pond for them to swim in, and a mate would be great!
Guar: This species is really cool more trees and maybe a pond would be excellent. They are a very unique animal.
The Gardens area is well up kept. Overall this is a small area of the zoo, and I do think they should add some outdoor exhibits for the larger indoor animals in the Indo Malayan and Malayan Woods Pavilion.
Sumatran Tigers: These two exhibits are okay, if they had more trees and access to a lower level viewing it would be amazing. Also a large pond would be neat and they maternity den should be re done. Sorry Zoogoer I completly forgot about them.
Malayan Woods Pavilion Review! 2008
Turtles in the very front tank have an excellent exhibit; this exhibit is the best exhibit at the zoo for any small animal.
Forest Tank: The tank where the Jumbo Guarami was found. Is an excellent sized tank, they could do much more here, if they took out the existing fish and added multiple river fish it would be amazing, having this tank just like a river would be the highlight of this pavilion.
Forest Area/Free Flight Area: Excellent by itself with butterflies or all sorts this part is the best in the pavilion.
Bird Exhibits: Great exhibits but they should be more visible.
Clouded Leopard: This species should have an outdoor area, they exhibit is excellent otherwise. The river is a neat idea, but it could be bigger.
Snakes: The snakes here have really neat exhibits and I think maybe a few plants would make it better.
Overall: they would be able to do so much more in this pavilion if they renovated it. If they ever decide to, I think the whole area should be redone and expanded, not a lot but just enough to make the pathways a bit larger and have some other species lurking by. I do agree with with Zoogoer about having a much more asian feel to it.
