I have decided to make a new thread dedicated to the reviews of the Toronto Zoo. I know Zoogoer and I have been writing reviews and that they take up some space in the general Toronto Zoo Thread.

My first review is Indo Malaya Outdoor Exhibits and Malayan Woods Pavilion.

Indo Malaya Outdoor Exhibits Review! 2008

Lion-tailed Macaque: This exhibit is good for the outside/inside areas, more foliage should be added, and maybe an open air exhibit.

Indian Rhino: More trees and shrubs should be considered in this exhibit. He exhibit has a pond and is defiantly a good exhibit for these species, they could have more room, but they don’t seem to be bothered by the size.

Malayan Tapir: Should be about the size of the Indian Rhino exhibit, and defiantly more foliage. They should have a larger pond for them to swim in, and a mate would be great!

Guar: This species is really cool more trees and maybe a pond would be excellent. They are a very unique animal.

The Gardens area is well up kept. Overall this is a small area of the zoo, and I do think they should add some outdoor exhibits for the larger indoor animals in the Indo Malayan and Malayan Woods Pavilion.

Sumatran Tigers: These two exhibits are okay, if they had more trees and access to a lower level viewing it would be amazing. Also a large pond would be neat and they maternity den should be re done. Sorry Zoogoer I completly forgot about them.

Malayan Woods Pavilion Review! 2008

Turtles in the very front tank have an excellent exhibit; this exhibit is the best exhibit at the zoo for any small animal.

Forest Tank: The tank where the Jumbo Guarami was found. Is an excellent sized tank, they could do much more here, if they took out the existing fish and added multiple river fish it would be amazing, having this tank just like a river would be the highlight of this pavilion.

Forest Area/Free Flight Area: Excellent by itself with butterflies or all sorts this part is the best in the pavilion.

Bird Exhibits: Great exhibits but they should be more visible.

Clouded Leopard: This species should have an outdoor area, they exhibit is excellent otherwise. The river is a neat idea, but it could be bigger.

Snakes: The snakes here have really neat exhibits and I think maybe a few plants would make it better.

Overall: they would be able to do so much more in this pavilion if they renovated it. If they ever decide to, I think the whole area should be redone and expanded, not a lot but just enough to make the pathways a bit larger and have some other species lurking by. I do agree with with Zoogoer about having a much more asian feel to it.

I could but then its to much, it would probably get confusing, I also liked the site when you could go and click on the country, they the zoo popped up then u clicked on the zoo and then there was a whole page for that zoo. lol Did you change this and why?

I just wanted to say that i wish that they would give Indo-Malaya a more asian feel to it.

And why do they consider sumatran tigers part of the pavilon, there outside last i checked, would be nice if the added an indoor as well

I could but then its to much, it would probably get confusing

It makes it easier to find information when we have one topic per thread with a meaningful title - this thread could have been called "Indo Malaya / Malayan Woods Review", and then someone browsing through the forum would have seen this thread for Toronto zoo and known exactly what it was about. Similarly with other threads.

This is a general rule for how forums like this should work to make things easier - one thread per topic.

I also liked the site when you could go and click on the country, they the zoo popped up then u clicked on the zoo and then there was a whole page for that zoo. lol Did you change this and why?

See this thread: http://www.zoobeat.com/4/zoobeat-forum-structure-experiment-21294/

It was becoming too cumbersome with one forum per zoo - we have nearly 400 zoos now, and that was simply too many.

You can achieve exactly the same result now - if you just want to see threads about Toronto zoo, either click on the "Toronto Zoo" link on an existing thread in the Canada forum, or else use the box at the bottom of the thread list to filter the list to just threads from Toronto Zoo (see screenshots below).

I'm also going to add something to list the zoos for each country on the thread list so you can filter them more easily to find the zoo you are interested in.

... but sorry - I'm taking this thread off topic!

Indo Malaya Pavilion Review! 2008
________________________________________
If given the chance this pavilion should be the next place to be massively overhauled. The pavilion should include a large rainforest and have a second floor to see into the rainforest canopy. They should construct all new exhibits and reorganize the area completely.

When you walk into the pavilion there is a massive orientation area. This should be constructed into another animal exhibit. Then you have two choices; go up towards the Orangutans or to the pond.

Ponds/Waterfall: I know it wouldn’t fit the geographical area of the zoo but if the flamingos were housed a pond like this one in the winter (and be viewed by the public in the winter). This pond has some fish and birds that are free flying around this area.

Semi Circular Aquarium: This aquarium is the second best in the zoo, second to the Great Barrier Reef Aquariums. There are different species in here that add to the zoos collection maybe a few real plants and this tank would be a bit better.

Most of the small exhibits and tanks in this pavilion are great for the animals. They can all do with more plants.

Orangutan: This exhibit is the worst exhibit for large primates at the zoo. Although they do have lots of climbing space some trees should be added and I think they should no have the public being able to view around the whole exhibit.

Prevost’s Squirrel: This exhibit is perfect for this animal, perfect size, height and the plants are in there. The exhibit does have small mesh but that’s because of the animals themselves.

Python: Great exhibit but I think it may be two small. I do not know much about reptiles but in my opinion a small area for a 20 foot python is a little bit unnecessary. They could add some more plants in this area.

White Handed Gibbon: Great exhibit although they could have some more trees but the climbing structure is good even though it is metal.

Large Birds: Near the exhibit is a large bird aviary. This here should be developed into a much large very lush rainforest where the public can view the canopy.

Overall: This pavilion is great but if even given the opportunity it can be transform greatly!

African Rainforest Pavilion Review! 2008
________________________________________
I have not been to the zoo in a while, so if I do make some mistakes, or forget an exhibit please let me know.

This pavilion was built when the zoo opened and underwent renovation with and expanded with a gorilla rainforest exhibit. It is the largest indoor gorilla habitat in the world. The pavilion may be undergoing renovation in winter 2008. This pavilion is filled the lots of real plants, it is nice and includes a variety of species.

Mandrills: The mandrills have a great exhibit, maybe cover the stairs in their exhibit somehow and maybe add some more shrubs. This exhibit along with the majority of the Southside of the African Pavilion will be renovated. Hopefully they might get an outdoor exhibit.

Small Tanks/Exhibits: The majority of the small exhibits and tanks are great; they take after the real world greatly. The tanks seem to be filled with plants and seem to all be healthy. (This includes all the small aquariums and small exhibits including the Aba Aba and the Ornate Nile Monitor)

Red River Hogs/Warthogs: This exhibit is good for the Red River Hogs and Warthogs; however it is not good for the pygmy hippo that lives in it now. I know the pigs are very destructive but maybe add some foliage that can hang down over the walls of their exhibit.

Pygmy Hippos: Overall this exhibit is small, but not horrible. The bridge you have to walk across is a neat idea, but I do think they deserve a lot more room. If they can just expand this exhibit to twice the size it would be greatly suited for these creatures. The sandy parts, the island of plants and the pool are all great; all they need is more room!

Scared Ibis/Spoonbills/ Egyptian Goose: this exhibit seems small for the amount of birds they have but, I do like it here. The smell can upset someone’s stomach but these birds seem to love it. Maybe add a real tree that the birds could nest in.

Meerkats: In all a good exhibit. The meerkats do have the choice to go through underground tunnels but the exhibit seems fake. It would be nice if they had access outside. The zoo could easily do this by putting a door (like a doggy door) in one of the back window and use a small yard outside. They should a few hilly hills for them. Does the zoo plan on breeding them?

Lake Malawi: This take is great in some people’s eyes, but knowing a thing or to about fish, this is not a great aquarium. The fish are way to over crowded, they should have there own territories and hiding places, they can do a lot more the just stick 2000 fish in one large tank. What the zoo should do is put lots of rocks and minimize the number of fish in the tank.

The African River Fish Tanks: Excellent setup and display of the tanks, BTW I have not seen the African Lungfish in a while. Did he die or which tank is he in?

West African Dwarf Crocodile: Excellent exhibit, a brilliant display of animals and plants, most of the walls are covered and this is the way all exhibits should be for every animal!

Spotted Necked Otter: This exhibit is a bad one, with almost no privacy for these animals it’s not that great, and the zoo should have the same amount of room as the Canadian Otters. If they made a replica of the Canadian Otters exhibit in the African Pavilion, the otters would love it!

Lowland Gorilla: A great exhibit, as mentioned before this exhibit is the largest indoor gorilla habitat in the world. They have a great exhibit but having more foliage would make it even better. The day room needs to be more natural, but it does provide the gorillas with lots of climbing space. The outside yard is great as well for the use of climbing space, it is a bit small for a troop of gorillas, maybe enlarge it a bit, but don’t loose the climbing space. Many zoos around the world have large exhibits but they lack in lots of climbing space. The Toronto Zoos gorilla’s exhibit had a number of climbing opportunities and the gorilla’s seem to love it!

Nocturnal Section: these exhibits are good although they could modify the whole area. If they decided to do a renovation to this area I think they should add some more species and keep the ones already there. You should be able to walk in and the first thing you see is a black wall, the turn right to go into the “African Cave” Then you get into the cave, here you walk along a wooden bridge and there is a small river flowing though the area. You make your way around the cave and end up facing the back the black wall, and then you exit on the left of where you came in.

Overall: The African Rainforest Pavilion is great, after there renovations in the winter it will be much better, this pavilion is one of the best but has its flaws but, it will continue to be the best to many people.

African Savanna Review! 2008
________________________________________
Elephants: The elephants have a large enough yard when half of the herd is on display. They should and might be expanding the paddock and a new elephant house so the herd can be on display all year long would be essential. Why does the public not able to go in there anymore?

Hippo: The hippos have a good exhibit, it could be improved. If the zoo added an underwater viewing it would be great for the public in the Toronto area to see. They should do an exhibit like the Inturi Forest at the San Diego Zoo. Expanding the exhibit and have another yard built where the African Shamba Farm is, with an underground viewing and a complete updated area there. That way the zoo can breed an amazing species better than ever.

Warthogs (outdoor): This exhibit is good for such a destructive animal; they should have some more foliage hanging over the side of the exhibit. The red river hogs should be displayed here as well as the warthogs in the summer.

The Zebras, Kudus, Rhinos, and Storks: This exhibit is excellent, it replicates the African savanna, the only thing I would change is add some more vegetation in an island area in between the zebras and rhinos and also hide the fence that divides the enclosures. The Zoo should open up all the exhibits so that they can rotate through them to be like a real savanna and all the animals should be able to get to the watering hole.

Cheetah: This exhibit is good for cheetahs, but a large African tree or a real large tree in the middle of the exhibit to add to the boringness, or they can but a pile of rocks in the middle so that it looks like they are watching the nearby prey (other savanna exhibits)

Baboons: Good exhibit, all they need to add is some more vegetations maybe a forest in the back middle area.

Ostrich: Great exhibit, with some trees and they need to put an emphasis on a centre piece or something, and also add more trees and shrubs.

Lion: The lion exhibit is great for the lions, the Kjope idea is amazing. The lions do have an off exhibit yard. This exhibit does seem old maybe remodeling the underground part of it, with some signs and other interesting facts.

Hyenas: Great Exhibit, maybe alternate the hyenas and a different species such as wild dogs. This exhibit is not one f the greatest exhibits but, it could be updated, and added more foliage is essential.

Giraffe: Excellent, and can not be changed maybe adding a feeding deck, but to add anything to an animal exhibit it should be researched first. Other species in this exhibit could be a neat mixed species exhibit.

Seals: The exhibit itself is great, they did have access to a grassy area, and they should have access again. The zoo should get more, but since they are a Phase Out species this would be perfect for a colony of penguins. The penguins may bring the attendance level of the zoo up a lot.

There is an exhibit outdoors for the male mandrills and they should develop the rest of this are to add more animal exhibits, maybe add a pavilion here to house Madagascar species, and they defiantly need Columbus monkeys and howler monkeys. And also add bongo and okapi, leopards also would be a great addition. The future of the zoo should be great!

Canadian Domain Review! 2008
________________________________________
I have decided to do some more reviews of the zoo! I have not been to this part of the zoo for about a year so; the exhibits don’t pop out in my head. The Canadian Domain is part of the North Zoo Redevelopment Site and may be Phase 3. It will be the conversion of the Canadian Domain into the mixed wood/Boreal Forest.

To start, the Toronto Zoo should acquire many more Canadian animals, not squirrels or chipmunks, but other species like the Mountain Goat, Dalls Sheep, Bighorn Sheep, Caribou, Whooping and Sandhill Cranes, some foxes, pelicans, and wolfs. Would all be a great addition to the zoo.

If I was in charge of building a new portion of the zoo it would have to be the Canadian Domain, because of the unique animals that Canada has. I would have all the animals into new exhibits, and add the animals I mentioned above. I absolutely love the Canadian Wilds section of the Calgary Zoo, and I would copy some exhibits from that.

I would have to add an aviary for many North American birds. Just take a piece of land and cover it with a roof so the zoo could hold many more species, (Like the Montreal Biodome) I would love to have it just like a pavilion, with some fox exhibits and have the otters and beavers in here to, as well as some other small exhibits.

I would also add a chairlift ride to go down to the Canadian Domain to replace the old track that is there now.

I will now start on the exhibits that the zoo has, all of the newer animals may come, but I am not the person to decide.

Cougar: This exhibit has much climbing space for the animals, but it should be much larger, and should have no mesh just glass walls, and an open air exhibit, adding lots of foliage to make it seem like an area out of their natural habitat.

Grizzly Bear: The grizzly bears have an okay exhibit, although it could be bigger, and have an underwater viewing area, where the public can watch them swim and the bears can catch some live fish. They can also add some foliage to the exhibit and make it much more natural. I would not move the exhibit from where it is today.

Bald Eagle: This exhibit could be a bit bigger but the use of vertical space is excellent. They should add a few trees and have a pond with live fish so the birds can catch them for enrichment.

Moose: The zoo moose exhibit is good in space wise, but they should mimic the Calgary Zoos moose exhibit and have a large pond for swimming. I do like Zoogoer’s idea of having an observation tower here, maybe position the tower in between the moose and bison exhibits.

Arctic Wolf: These species are getting a new home in the “Tundra Trek” and I hope it will have a small forest for them and a patch of open land, I think their new exhibit will be outstanding when done, and I can’t wait to view them in the winter.

Musk Ox: These species are getting a new home in the “Tundra Trek” and they should have a small coniferous forest and the rest open field. Once again, I think their new exhibit will be outstanding when done, and I can’t wait to view them in the winter.

Elk/Bison: I have never seen the elk but I think they are with the bison, they should add a pond in this exhibit and with the observation tower it would be great.

The Weston pond area is excellent and it truly resembles Canadian live, I also like the aboriginal trail.

Overall: The Canadian Domain doesn’t have many flaws but when they are finished this phase I think it will look amazing!

Americas Pavilion Review! 2008

Entrance: Into this pavilion is a snowy owl, on display temporarily. The planted area is really cool. This area has numerous free flight birds.

Snake Wing: the first few exhibits with the exception of two are all snakes. They are all well panted and very natural. The two other exhibits have some birds and other small animals in them. These exhibits too are very well done.

Primate Wing: The set of these exhibits are alright, the mess kills them but, the primates seem to like it, it’s just a pain to see. Although, how else are they going to keep them in? There is a very bad smell here; do you know what it is?

Small Tanks: These tanks are very old and are not anything special.

Rufus banded owl: What happened to this species?

Prairie Dogs/Black Footed Ferrets: The Prairie Dog exhibit is excellent, but the ferret exhibit is small. I have never seen one in here, are there any there?

Frogs/Toads/Anphibians/2008 Year of the Frog Exhibit: All of these exhibits are remarkable, they are all very natural, and these exhibits show a very special conservation standard.

River Otter: Great outdoor exhibit but the indoors one seems to be lacking. More foliage should be put in both indoor and outdoor.

Caiman: Great exhibit maybe add one more large plant..

Bug Exhibits: Great for bug lovers, these exhibits are nice but not very appealing! Especially if cockroaches can escape?

American Alligator: Great exhibit but seem really boring and bland, adding some more foliage and maybe expanding it a bit would be great.

Beaver: Great Exhibit, it’s all outdoors although they seem to spend all their time in their hut.

Desert Exhibits: Great Setups, the mural is cool and the animals are amazing.

Other Small Exhibits/Leftovers: The rest of the exhibits in this pavilion are all very well done, all have plants and all look very natural.

Overall: The Americas Pavilion is very good, they have many standout exhibits, some gross ones, and some poorly designed tanks.

Americas/Tundra Review! 2008
________________________________________
The Americas outdoor exhibits are mainly under constructions, all the old exhibits there were nothing special, even though it was cool to watch a Polar Bear swim. With the new exhibits for the Polar Bears, Musk Ox, Reindeer, and Arctic Wolf I think this area will look outstanding. With the addition of some new species and a duck pond, and another newer Inukshuk, the area will look very real. The Polar Bears exhibit will be tripled in size, as well as a much larger area for the Arctic Wolves, I do think that the zoo should acquire more Musk Ox, and start up breeding again. Although there are some exhibits that have managed to escape the construction, these are the Mayan Temple Exhibits.

Mayan Temple Exhibits: I absolutely love the theme here hopefully the zoo will come up with a great idea for this area, maybe keep it running and add a few exhibits here and have it part of the Tropical Americas.

Jaguar: The exhibit is small but great, if it was made larger it would suit the cats perfectly, if they decide to go ahead and build the new exhibit in the Americas Pavilion maybe have the glass wall (with no hotwire) and an underwater viewing for them.

Spider Monkeys: This exhibit is great for the monkeys, the mesh isn’t great but the monkeys use it to climb. Maybe add a tree or two and the exhibit could be better. The water that flows around these exhibits is amazing too.

Flamingos: One of the best exhibits at the zoo, there is almost no fence and the birds still stay in there exhibit, the zoo is smart to have had a deeper section of water so the flamingoes could stay put. They could enlarge the exhibit but that is being picky.

Waterfall/Capybara exhibits: really cool ideas, nothing to change, but the smell of the waterfall.

I like this area because of its theme, and anything that could be changed is just being picky, except for the jaguar’s exhibit in size wise.

Overall: The American exhibits are undergoing construction for the new “Tundra Trek” and the few exhibits that are not, are still great.

Next Review: Australasia Pavilion

Australasia Review! 2008
________________________________________
The Australasia Pavilion is the newest area in the zoo. In November 2006, the zoo closed the Pavilion and underwent 2 years of construction, which resulted in all new exhibits and a new Great Barrier Reef Area, where the former Edge of Night Exhibit used to be. The Great Barrier Reef consisted of a large seven metre long community tank, featuring sharks, damsel, and angel fish. There is also a Lion Fish, and newly enlarged seahorse tanks. Coral and Moon Jelly fish have also been added to the collection both a first for the zoo. This Pavilion reopened on May 16, 2008.

Outside the pavilion: The TZ did outstanding renovations outside. All the new trees and the new exit, really fits in with the zoo’s surroundings. It looks clean and uncluttered.

Tree Kangaroo: This exhibit is great; the one thing they should change is to put a bamboo background in the exhibit, like the Komodo dragon, a fence running along the back wall, to cover up the ugly background there now, and maybe a couple more trees.

The Outdoor Aviary: This exhibit the public has no access to now. This exhibit was neat because you were able to walk under all kinds of birds. Why did the close it? They should modify it and change it slightly so visitors can still view it. The Kookaburras “cage” mesh is a little too much but, (if I remember correctly) the birds were sometimes housed in the outdoor aviary in the summer.

The outdoor aviary, and the area between the Tree Kangaroo and the updated exhibits was left the same as before, this really kills the updates because they could have made this area look outstanding. The billabong is an amazing part of this pavilion as well, maybe add some new species here, some new birds would be cool, if I am correct, I think Ungulate mentioned cormorants here?

The new exhibits, where the saltwater tanks used to be, are absolutely amazing, the wood paneling and the exhibits here seem to be filled up and definitely gives this area a touch! More exhibits in this area would be cool, maybe a desert snake, tarantula, or something from Australia.

The New Reptile Exhibits/Cave area: These exhibits are all placed inside a cave and really make this area effective. The exhibits here are filled up and look amazing! The hieroglyphics on the cave walls top of this part of the pavilion.

Komodo dragon: This exhibit is good but more foliage could be cool, especially if they had some mangrove trees. This exhibit should have a lot more foliage and should seem more rainforest like

Wallaby/Wombat: Excellent exhibits, the zoo is in the right direction with providing amazing exhibits. Their new outdoor area is great too. Watching these animals outside is a new and incredible thing to see. This mixed exhibit is one of the best.

Oceans and Island: The doors into the area, the sugar glider exhibit and the rest of these first exhibits are excellent. The video and orientation area is a great addition as well.

Coral Tank: It’s new, and it will improve, it looks ugly now but when it’s established it will be amazing and colorful. They should add some sea anemones, crustaceans and some fish; all these introductions could help establish the tank and help make it less maintenance. These species are a first for the Toronto Zoo.

Lion Fish: These fish are incredible! This tank does seem bare maybe adding some more coral to the background might help a bit. This tank is supposed to be for Kudu Seahorse. When do the Kudu Seahorses go on exhibit?

Common Pot-Bellied Sea Horse tank: The enlarged tank is better for viewing, although the seahorses may not like it. They may become stressed and die, the tanks viewing is almost way to large, for the sea horses safety they should decreased the viewing a bit.

Community Tank: Absolutely outstanding! This tank is a bit disappointing as there are no live coral in this tank. The zoo made it sound like it was going to be a large coral tank in their interviews, writing, etc. This made some people be very disappointed but, the tank is definitely a show stopper!

Moon Jellies: Amazing! This new species are really cool. They are a great addition to the zoo. The tank is very bland, maybe add some things that would be in there natural habitat. Glad the zoo decided to get them. These species are a first for the Toronto Zoo.

Aussie Walkabout: A neat idea, if it was possible to feed them, it would make it an unforgettable experience. It probably won’t happen but it would be neat. Where are the animals kept in the winter and how many kangaroos, wallabies, and emus does the zoo have?

Overall: EXCELLENT, AMAZING, you say it, it’s got it! One of the best pavilions at the zoo! Words can’t describe it; I can’t wait to see it again and especially can’t wait to do my zoo keeper for a day there! The setup of outstanding exhibit, provides a great experience for visitors of all ages, the zoo is definitely on the right track with exhibit construction.

Next Review: Eurasia

Eurasian Review! 2008
________________________________________
The Toronto Zoo will be doing construction on this part of the zoo in the next 2 - 3 years. This is the second phase of the North Zoo Redevelopment Site.

Siberian Tiger: I like this exhibit, some updates could be done to the maternity den and it seems like it is not a part of the Eurasian section. (The reason I forgot to do this exhibit.) Maybe try and include it more

Yak: I never did like the yak exhibit, but I would like to see a large field like the Wisent(European Bison) for them as well as a forested area, sort of like what they have now but larger. The zoo should move the yaks over by the Wisent's. The layout could be like this, the yaks in one yard, then a middle larger yard, then the Bison yard. The middle yard, the two animals could alternate in. I think the zoo has two and what are their names?

Bison: I also do not like this exhibit maybe more foliage. Even if possible get some more to establish a breeding program. Does the zoo have two as well and what are their names?

Butterfly Meadow: The butterfly meadow is a garden that has a few hilly trails in the back, butterfly feeders and houses plus lots of flowers. It also tells you about butterfly conservation and how you can attract butterflies to your backyard.

Red Panda: One of the better old exhibits at the Toronto Zoo. The red pandas have two yards. One is used the other is not. The first yard is kept up and the red pandas are always on exhibit, the second yard could be cleaned and weeded it could possible be used again. They stopped using the second yard because in 2006 the older dhole pups lived here for a short time before shipping out. The Red Pandas names are Ferrous and Sweet Pea. They may be plans on breeding the two.

Marco Polo Area: The exhibits in this area are ugly, sorry to say but they the only animals I know there are the Peregrine Falcon, a type of crane? And the crane exhibit is a winter house for the birds in the kid’s zoo. As well as the camels. I do think that this area will be demolished and converted into the Dr. Schofeild Memorial. Ungulate said there might be pheasants included with it.

The Eurasian Station is the best kept zoo mobile station at the zoo. The gardens around it are always nice.

Camel, Reindeer, Wild Horse and the Scimitar Horned Oryx: All these exhibits are plain maybe add some more foliage. Hopefully when the Eurasia Re-vamp is complete they will all have new exhibits! There are currently two Oryx’s.

Dhole: This exhibit is nice but it needs to be re-done you can tell it is an ageing exhibit and it should be almost the same just with lower foliage like bushes and shrubs

Snow Leopard: The Snow Leopards have one of the worst exhibits at the zoo. This exhibit should be much larger with lots of rock work. The best things about this exhibit is the use of the vertical space and maybe even have some higher platforms if they choose to re-do this exhibit as well. The breeding pair are Koda and Tiga and the 2007 cubs are Maya and Kazi.

Japanese Macaque/ Barbary Ape: The layout of these exhibits is excellent. More foliage would be a great addition. The Japanese Macaque also known as the Snow Monkey went back to St Felicien after a long term loan. The Barbary ape’s have access to both yards now

Barbary sheep/ Chamois: The fake mountains set this exhibit adding more foliage to them and maybe some improved seating would be good.

I would love to see an Eurasian highland exhibits with maybe three new species added to the Eurasian section and I would love to see Giant Pandas this will improve the TZ greatly in numerous ways.

Overall: In honest words the Eurasian section is not up to par with the rest of the zoo, some of it is old and outdated, but when they do the re-vamp it can only be better! I honestly do love this area of the zoo because it is the least crowded and it gives you a break from everything else, so in some cases it is an old and outdated place but is also the best place in the zoo.

OVERALL: The Toronto Zoo is an amazing zoo, highlights not mentioned are Zellers Discovery Zone, Stingray Bay and the Zoomobile.

The Toronto Zoo is an amazing zoo and I recommend anyone to go there and experiance it themselves.

WOW!
What a lot of work you've put into these reviews, Quartz! If someone only saw half of the zoo, they could pretty much see the other half by reading this thread!

I know there are a lot of questions in here; I'll try to answer some of them soon (but can't for the next few days).

Thats okay, some of them are copy and past so they may be answered lol hehe!

Not tring to rush you, but will you be able to answer some questions of my reviews!

Just posting here, when I go to the zoo next which will be in a weeks time I think I am going to add something like a review here for the Tundra Trek, o yea Ungulate is there anything new for the Tundra right now?
