Sorry to post again.

I visited the zoo today these are a few news updates and questions

I spoke to the keeper about the bush dogs. There are two babies not sure what sex yet unfortunately I did not see them.

I spoke to another keeper who told me the capybara and tapir would be moved next week and they would introduce another female to the tapir to act as a mentor on how to be a tapir. Then they will bring a male tapir in. He also said the kangaroos and emu won't be a permanent exhibit and they are planning to build a new gibbon complex.

I saw one giant tortoise on top of other mating. Also saw the same thing with sloths and otters.

Definitely only one hyena at the zoo. Also still only one rhea in the enclosure.

Saw lots of new signage round the zoo and unfortunately could not see muntjac.

Do you know we're the New gibbon enclosure will be?

Around the area of the old prarie dog enclosure I think. I would imagine they would be much larger than they currently are. I should think they will knock down the current gibbon housing

Oh I thought they would keep the gibbon house to keep monkeys. It's a lot more spacious than the wooden monkey houses. I hope the New complex is well equipped and covered because if not, what's the point of a new one.

Perhaps they will am pretty sure there knocking down the other monkey house though listening to the keeper

I forgot to mention when I was in the bonobo house I saw four youngsters. I am not very good at all at recognising individuals. One group had a toddler and a smallish bonobo who I think was In the seperated enclosure from rest of group I think he could join the rest of the group though. This was the group which had access to the outdoors and were on the right hand side when looking at bonobos indoors. On the left hand side was a toddler and a very small baby which I couldn't get a view of as for the whole time was clinging onto the mothers chest. I could hardly see it.

Could someone explain to me who these individuals are thanks

I was looking at their website a few hours ago as I hope to visit next month and noticed an announcement that the Tropical House is closed for maintenance, which was dissappointing to hear as I was looking forward to seeing the birds in it. Anyway I emailed the zoo to ask what species were in the TH and when it would reopen. 45 minutes later I received a reply (from Emma) to say that they didn't have a date for its reopening yet but that all the inhabitants had been moved elsewhere and could still be seen. So well done Twycross for the speedy response to my enquiry. :)

Don't hold your breath about the Tropical House re-opening ever again,at least not without it being knocked down and re-built!

And just think of how much money the zoo cannot afford which that would cost!

Why is there all this negative feedback about Twycross Zoo?there are worst zoos, such as the cramped ripoff known as London Zoo!People from Leicestershire like I am are proud to have the zoo within our county , recently it has bred Vicunas and Bonobos!

One of Twycross Zoos biggest fans to be precise

That maybe the case, but you have made a fair number of negative comments in the past, so i just found it odd that you objected to someone else doing the same!

Yes but you will also note that they have never, made any negative comments about the period when the zoo mangement had the wonderfull Mrs S.Boardman in charge, just the mangement of the zoo after she finally fell on her sword,it would almost make you think that they worked along side her within the zoo!

I have to say that having only been to Twycross for the first time 5 years ago, i have liked the zoo enough to return 4 times since. Like a lot of zoos it has lost a number of species over this period, but at least its gained a few new ones too.
My views are not tarnished by how much better Twycross may have been in the past though.
London is a different matter, my current views are based on the zoo of the past & though i think your comments are a little harsh, i too don't think London is that great, certainly outside my top 5 in the UK.
I am known for criticising Marwell too, so probably if i had been a regular years ago i might well question Twycross today.
Sometimes a persons negative comments may give the impression they don't like a zoo, when in fact it is totally the opposite and it is only their passion for the place and wish for it to succeed that leads them to criticise it.

Well, if what you suggest Mr. Zoogiraffe is indeed correct, and I have no reason to suggest what you are saying is incorrect, as , from what you have posted in the past concerning this zoo I am unable to find an inaccuracy , if what you suggest is indeed a fact, i.e. Integrity, Knewbold or whatever other name this person wishes to call himself was a former member of the previous management team of this zoo and worked along side Mrs Suzanne Boardman when she directed this zoo, did he help the former C.E.O. to get her things out of the zoo when she was given two hours to do so , after she had resigned her position?
