I believe they are still hoping ‘Nandi’ can breed (iirc she’s 25?) I’ve not checked in with the rhinos for a while. If I can find anyone tomorrow I’ll post an update on the mixing. When was your last visit?
Thanks, it was September.

Yes the male De Brazza’s enclosure is connected to the open topped exhibit but they haven’t had access for a while now.
Before all of the recent moves the De Brazza’s had access to all the closed topped exhibits on the right side and the Francois Langurs were on the left side enclosures.
I asked a keeper today and they told me it is still working.Thank you for the info. Is Flynn's heart monitor still working? As I got told that wasn't anymore before.
Spoke to a mammal keeper who informed me they are still planning on breeding ‘Nandi’ but are taking things slow. She said ‘Sudan’ isn’t very confident around the female. They have been in the same paddock together but no mating behaviour was documented. Hopefully this answered your question. Is there any updates on the rhino? Last time I visited they were mixing the male and female.
Is he a proven bull?I asked a keeper today and they told me it is still working.

In the summer I was able to feed him and he ran around the enclosure with the browse like he owned the place! It was quite funny to be told he’s not very confident after the display he put on for me.
No I don’t believe he has had any offspring. He was born 4th December 2017 at Leipzig. Is he a proven?.
I.e. does he have any offspring prior to arrival at Twycross?
Not the best situation. Sounds rather like Paignton's situation with their male who over a long period of time didn't manage to mate the older female- who js now dead.No I don’t believe he has had any offspring. He was born 4th December 2017 at Leipzig.
Thanks for sharing. Where is Jomar?Sorry the spamming the forum with messages:
Over the weekend and today I’ve been speaking with some of the Great Ape keepers about the animals.
Bonobos: The plan is to breed Yuli and Batia. Currently Batia is not as mature but they have been monitoring Yuli’s cycles which are a bit irregular at the moment but she is ready. As expected Diatou is taking a more of a back seat role within her group, this means Cheka is becoming a dominant female within Diatou’s group (when Diatou is in the same troop as Cheka)
Bornean Orangutans: Basuki’s future home hasn’t been finalised yet so for now he will be staying. They weren’t sure if Maliku will stay with Batu as they won’t be breeding from him again. There are plans in place for new orangutans to arrive at Twycross soon (no details on individuals).
The new NSCC will be started early next year.
Chimpanzees: Kibali has also been separated from the main troop as he’s been kicking off because he missed Jomar. They are hoping to keep those three together then introduce others in to get better relations with Tommy.
Something i found interesting was Tommy and Flynn both have heart monitors, Tommy is fine it's just so they can get a healthy comparison with Flynn who has heart issues.
There are still plans to bring in female chimpanzees but they have all been put on hold with the current group being split up.
Hopefully this answers any questions people had about the current status of some species at the zoo.
Jomar is currently living with Tommy and Kibali in a separate enclosure Im Chimpanzee Eden. Thanks for sharing. Where is Jomar?
