USA new exhibits for 2026

I am starting this thread to document all the parks that have announced major projects for 2026. This could include anything like a new exhibit or new attraction that you are excited for and wanted to share. I was really just looking for a place to talk about the new attractions that zoos have announced in one central location. I also think having it all in one place is beneficial because you can see how parks are operating and it gives people an idea of how the economy is looking for these major zoos that people visit.
Busch Gardens Tampa
In 2026 BGT is planning to open Lion and Hyena ridge. It is said to be one of the biggest exhibits ever built at the park. It is a very necessary upgrade for both the hyenas and lions significantly increasing the space that they have access too.

Bear Country at the Philadelphia Zoo and African Experience at the Franklin Park Zoo should both be opening in the spring.

Forest Trailhead at the Woodland Park Zoo and Discovery Trails at the Detroit Zoo should also both be completed sometime next year.

Bear country at Philadelphia Zoo will feature an upgraded space for both Andean Bears and also Sloth bears
Construction Update

African Experience
at Franklin park Zoo will have the African Penguin Coast which will of course host African Penguins which will be outdoors. Also an expansion of the current African Savana will also take place. The African Savana is currently home to Hartmann's Zebra, white-bearded wildebeests and ostriches will get more room to roam and also the visitors will have access to more viewing areas of these species.

Forest Trailhead
at Woodland Park Zoo will feature an outdoor walk area with tree kangaroos and red pandas. Guests will be able to view them from an elevated walkway. Also there will be an indoor area with viewing of keas, and "tree-dwelling reptiles, colorful amphibians, and fascinating invertebrates." The hope is though for this exhibit to educate people about tree kangaroos.

Discovery Trails at Detroit Zoo will have a large playground area for children and also spaces for animal encounter use like goats and petting stingrays. This area is catered towards families and will be a great place to get children interested in animals.

Destination Discovery at the St. Louis Zoo is supposed to be opening in 2026 as well. It is also focused on families showing that lots of parks are really focusing on family experience. This area will feature many different species and different areas everything listed below is subject to change of course. Underground Cities will feature prairie dogs and a dig area for kids. Freshwater wilderness will feature North American River otters, Chilean Flamingos, and a water play area. Forest families will feature babydoll sheep, and at least one coati. There will also be an elevated walk over the Freshwater wilderness area giving an overhead view of the species in that small section. There will also be a climbing structure and a space for animal encounters. Also the Living World Building will get a second story addition to aid in education space.

A new Komodo Dragon exhibit will also be built. The Komodo Dragon habitat will be inside of the new Tropical Discovery Center which will also feature other reptiles and amphibians and also fruit bats. This area will also feature a "Red Panda and Muntjac Joint Habitat". Also an Asian small-clawed otter exhibit is supposed to be in this area, but I believe it is already open.

Usually @pachyderm pro gives a comprehensive update for the next year in December that get's added to as the thread goes on...I'm not saying that they have exclusive rights to making a thread like this, but it is always done really well.
I have not decided if I will continue to do this. I did take a look at @pachyderm pro post and it appears that it is more of a list. I am more trying to share what is going on. Are people enjoying this format if not I will probably just stop. Any recommendations on how I can make this better or more appealing to others is appreciated

I love Pachy Pro's threads on the subject and have been a contributor to them in the past, as can be seen in the 2025 thread -- but I do really appreciate you sharing the details of these exhibits, as in the previous thread I was often googling information separately or asking, if I wasn't familiar with some of the exhibits in question. A lot of what you've covered are projects I know about but Pathways to Asia is new to me, for example.

Cleveland has confirmed the American bear exhibits (Former polar bear grottos) will undergo renovation next year and the Pinniped exhibit will be removed. About time, as they're the last of the grotto exhibits and the seal exhibit is dreadfully out of date.
