Visited Ventura this afternoon, and saw pretty much everything. Raccoon dogs were a highlight, with the male and his seven offspring getting on really well, and the pair of corsac foxes were also really nice. Saw the new baby Cuban hutia although it was impossible to get a photo with it being so sunny.
Spoke to the keeper during the raccoon dog talk who let me know of the following upcoming exhibits:
- Tortoise house, holding the African spurred and leopard tortoises (currently living with the lemurs), is near completion.
- Binturongs (generic subspecies) are to be temporarily held in the enclosure vacated by the fossa until a new enclosure is built near the raccoon dogs/corsac foxes in the Asian section.
- African grey hornbills and dwarf mongooses are to be held in a mixed exhibit still being built.
- The omnipresent meerkats are also coming.
