Welsh Mountain Zoo Welsh Mountain Zoo news

Just been on the WMZ chimp page and a 0:1 arrived in October 2019 called Menolly. She came from Krefeld zoo in Germany and she was born December 1987.
Menolly is a pure-bred West African chimpanzee Pan troglodytes verus. So, it seems they - species coordinator and zoo - have clear plans for restarting breeding chimps at Colwyn Bay in future.

I wonder if their plans to move some of the males - as alluded to in a mid 2019 post on this thread earlier - has already happened.

BTW: the females Tuppence (verus), Jill (hybrid), Katie (hybrid) and Euro (hybrid) were supposedly all on contraceptives. One (just) wonders if Katie's baby was an accidental mishap?

What page are you talking about: I can only see a little wee bit of info and nothing like on individual chimps or news items for Welsh Mountain Zoo?

I think they moved 2 males a couple weeks after my visit, but I'm not 100% certain on that, or on which ones they were.

Be nice to get an angle on which male chimpanzee got moved out though.
If someone else can offer any more insight that be nice!
