Welt der Gifte (Salzburg) Welt der Gifte Salzburg - News and Discussion

I might be coming round with my girls, we will be in the area starting from next week.

But, just to be sure, you have to reserve a slot before coming round?

I just came back from a little trip to Greifswald where since my departure in 2019 my former assistent has been using the old WdG venue for her very own exotic animal exhibition. Unfortunately, the building will soon be demolished to make room for new fancy apartment buildings. As a result, she needed to relocate some of her animals for a while. The most prominent one that I took along is a young male South Chinese King cobra. He's currently in quarantine, but will be on show pretty soon for a limited time.

How long have you been waiting for the chance to deliver this line? Since...2017? :D:D:p

I'm pleased to say it appeared fully-formed in my mind moments before I typed it up :p though I *do* have a pun up my sleeve for one specific scenario which may or may not ever come to pass, depending on your future acquisitions!

I already tried one in the former room. This is the first go at a (neo)tropical species.

Cool. When you have it set up can you please post some pictures so we can see the exhibit? This sounds like a cool exhibit.

Sure, but don't expect too much. I'm keeping it relatively simple for the sake of proper maintainance.

To keep our ever-curious Chinese banded King cobra mentally stimulated, we're trying to offer a variety of snake-appropriate enrichment elements.

Do you attend any sort of seminary on these kinds of enrichments? Or where else do you find them?
Fascinating nonetheless

I attended a general online snake enrichment course in 2021. Based on that acquired knowledge, further reading and my own experience, I'm trying out different options.

This might not win me any favours, but: what is it with English people and skipping appointments? Today was the fifth time in a row that English tourists booked a guided tour at WdG, then neither show up (or way too late) nor cancel in good time, can not be reached and do not apologize. While Irish, Scottish or Welsh...pretty much no other foreign visitors are causing these problems to that extent.
I'm seriously considering not to confirm any future booking requests by English visitors. Or only with prepayment. Tough luck. Discriminatory and unfair? Sure. But it's my time and money they are wasting. And to quote the late Nikki Lauda: Ich hab' ja nichts zu verschenken.
